Really good summary, Clement. $1M is 3 years is very impressive. It also highlights how circumstantial wealth creation can be. While your day job fueled your savings, the access to education, high-paying jobs, living with parents, and good stock market performance were all multipliers of your results.

In the majority of Europe, it's normal to live with your parents even in your 30-ies. Some people get way too attached to their parents, especially men, and live with them for 40 years. EDIT: I can speak on behalf of Slavic countries, where this kind of living is pretty normal because buying an apartment while raising a family can be very financially challenging for most people.

I don't know anybody who has lived with their parents in their 30's. Most move out early 20's in England at least. However, living in the Netherlands I see a lot of people in their late 20's with their parents. living in the Netherlands is ridiculously expensive :-\

I had to move out from my parents at 19 (now I'm 27). I tell everyone the same as you did: living at the cost of your parents is the most underrated thing, nobody appreciates until it hurts on the pocket. For me the mental stress wasn't worth it but in the bright sight I was capable to start from the ground up, and even with rent expenses, I'm able to accumulate wealthy, not as fast as you of course. Sometimes I wondering how incredibly software engineering is: besides making good money, we do work on the most challenging problems. Everyday is a different day.

I love this! I just turned 24 and I’m still living with my parents whilst saving aggressively. It’s such a great opportunity. But I still have to (well, choose to) pay rent because I don’t want to feel like I’m sponging off of them. I give them like $400/$500 a month. It’s still a great savings but I’m wondering if you pay no rent at all? And how do you deal with feeling bad? My daddy always tells me I don’t need to pay anything, he is a sweetheart, but I struggle with feeling bad, so always contribute regardless.
@mrhandexists20
@mrhandexists20 2 жыл бұрын
ik im one year late but im still putting it out there, you could always pay them back in another way. The amount you save can be used to create more money (once you save you first 100k, building wealth becomes smoother from there.). Then using you wealth you can treat them to various luxuries.

They don't know what is the value of $1 or Quarter(25 cents). 1st thing is knowing the value of money and managing money. Then comes the rest like investing, asset building etc. If someone don't know the 1st princicple then even if they make millions it will be blown away !!!

Live under your means? But life is so short. Eat that good food. Travel, see new places. Experience life. Or maybe I am having this mindset because I am a girl. :) But I really believe there must be a balance between saving and spending. I am a bit under my means as well when it comes to my car. My wealth is it 200k USD now, I am 27, but hey, I am from a poor eastern european country, so this is really something. I will become a millioaire in this life, I expect in 10 years, so I am happy with my possible future achievement haha.

I think so! It might depend on the company, because some big companies might have strict rules (for legal reasons) about how old you can be, whether or not you need to be currently enrolled in college, etc., but I think that many companies would give you that opportunity!
