Regarding the look of Crude, it seems to use a very old-school form of prerendered graphics, using 3D models that has then been converted to sprites. The main difference between this game and those of old seems to only be the resolution.

Crude’s art style reminds me of those Donkey Kong Country era, 16 bit games, where the graphics were just sprites rendered from 3D models. Crude just looks like that in high definition, which gives it this weirdly pristine look. I move that it be called the ‘Rendercore’ aesthetic. This will not catch on but I like the word immensely.

Crude would probably be best described as Killer Instinct style. Thanks for the continued indie goodness videos Clemmy !

FOUNTAINS needs to update their steam page and add information about content ratings. Currently, the page is not shown in Germany.

It's such a shame with the age ratings. So many games that could be absolute bangers are being kept from us.

I like your channel, but I confess that I liked it better when you made 10 recommendations per video. My impression was that the recommendations were chosen with more criteria and quality. I realize that 25 games per video ends up showing a lot of irrelevant and/or questionable quality stuff.

Yea... I skip through almost all games to see if I have anything of interest and sometimes it's even 1 game per video... Either too many indie games are being pushed out as pretty meh/shitty or I'm getting too old.

I agree-but I do like that he includes games other than his usual favorites (metroidvania, rogue lite, turn-based games), because I for one *REALLY* love pixel art like he does, but only tend to play action-adventure or point n click games. So imho I think that’s partly why the list gets so long. So that there’s something for almost everyone. BUT to your point-I do feel like there are definitely a few games on here of questionable “quality” that he could leave out each week.

@@mitsurugi999 I think I’m getting too old too, lol. There’s usually 1 or 2 games on here that I’m truly interested in, and the rest seems like stuff for younger kids (well, younger than me anyway). That being said, I still come here to flip through them, because I almost always learn about something that I want that I haven’t seen or heard of anywhere else! Which is a win imo. 👌🏼

Eh. The video is labeled by section, so you can easily skip through as soon as you've determined a game isn't for you. Someone else will enjoy the games that aren't relevant to you. Though I do understand the idea of wanting more selectivity when the word "Top" is used

NGL, the flow of Deisel Legacy kind of reminds me of the Super Robot Taisen Fighting game that has character cut scenes during specials (But i guess that's SRT in general lol). Otherwise Anode Heart gives me Digimon World 3 vibes and i want it (The OG, not sure about the card game yet); and Edge of Allegoria I did quite enjoy the demo so looking forward to go further, very crude in the language department and overall you're just a regular guy beating up random encounters with bats, bows and axes (among other things), but it's just compelling to see where the paths lead, with many build options to see how much damage you can really deal to things (aka you get a weapon that double the chance to crit on burned foes and several pieces of gear that teaches you burn abilities).

Wow, that Ion Shift game looks absolutely sickening, I get nauseous after looking at it for just a few seconds. Absurd that so many developers, especially indie ones unfortunately, are unable or too lazy to create impactful-feeling gameplay without resorting to something as low-effort and cliche as screenshake, especially in huge amounts.
@paultapping9510
@paultapping9510 3 күн бұрын
"lazy" is a particularly cruel thing to say about an indy dev, given what we know of the indy game development industry. Especially when you are incorrectly using it as a synonym for "uninspired"
@Chyrosran22
@Chyrosran22 3 күн бұрын
@@paultapping9510 No I mean it is either lazy or uninspired, and it applies to all devs, not just indie ones. Screen shake just appears to be more common in indie games, whether that's because of laziness or lack of inspiration I'm not commenting on. Meanwhile, are you suggesting indie devs are incapable of being lazy, or shouldn't be derided for it if they are?
