Queen Cleopatra recently released on Netflix, and it has opened to horrible reviews to say the least. Currently it sits at 1 percent on rotten tomato's audience reviews and only 13 percent from critics. But not only has Netflix's Queen Cleopatra documentary annoyed audiences it has also angered Egyptians as they say that the documentary has rewritten their own history and destroyed it. And as a response to this the actress who played Cleopatra Adele James, has called critics and Egyptian people fundamentally racist.

Greece should be especially offended as well. They still possess highly homogenous modern day DNA profiles indicated in numerous conducted studies and academic papers. Cleo was of Alexandrian Greek aristocracy that ruled over Egypt in those ancient times. They intermarried within their dynasty, so no chance of foreign assimilation. So much for the Nubian angle. Greeks therefore should also be racist to this ... "CLASSIST".

Typical woke Marxist praxis to reset historical facts to assist enforcement of current ideology. The current woke interpretation of racism is quite new, so the praxis is to present the new version as having always been true. This is a concept that George Orwell dealt with a lot in 1984: “The past was alterable ... Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.” "Who controls the past, controls the future: who controls the present, controls the past… The mutability of the past is the central tenet of Ingsoc. Past events, it is argued, have no objective existence, but survive only in written records and in human memories. The past is whatever the records and the memories agree upon. And since the Party is in full control of all records, and in equally full control of the minds of its members, it follows that the past is whatever the Party chooses to make it."

I'm an Egyptian, and my father is a tour guide who's spent his whole life studying and giving lectures about Egyptian history; he's really passionate about it, and I grew up listening to him telling me brief parts of our history. When he saw this he was SOOOOO MAD - see, if it was just some kid's cartoon misinterpreting Egyptian history and customs/culture out of ignorance, which I'm sure you CAN find somewhere on the internet, it wouldn't even bother us, hasn't bothered us for years. Not a lot of Egyptians are all that involved in western media drama and politics. But this was just going TOO far. My father said he felt like it was done with bad intentions. He and I were straight up laughing at the incredulity, the audaciousness of that "documentary". I literally live RIGHT NEXT TO THE PYRAMIDS 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And then I hear or read about some bullshit about how I, as an Egyptian, "don't know my own history" and "my country is full of racist people who were originally black people invaded by Arabs and westerners so we're invaders". WOW that made me so mad - I'M NOT OFFENDED BY THE ACTRESS' SKIN COLOUR, MY FATHER IS DARK-SKINNED OKAY I'M OFFENDED BY THE MALICIOUS REWRITING OF A PART OF OUR HISTORY, THENNNN BKAMING US WHEN WE GET OFFENDED and MAN does this BLATANT gaslighting and misrepresentation make my blood boil But thank you for pointing out how atrocious this documentary was

also, you may even have ancestors who were arabs conquering Egypt, but so what? It’s not like the arabs came in, slaughtered everyone and colonized the land. They became the rulers, but most of the population remained roman and/or native egyptian. The two groups just mixed with each other through time. Egyptians can claim descent from 3 great historical civilizations: the arabs, the romans and the native egyptians. One doesn’t cancel the others!!! Really glad to see Egypt fight for its heritage

Using the ‘race card’ as an excuse for their shitty behaviour and people are too scared to call them out in fear of being called a racist by mindless morons who can’t think critically. It absolves them of all accountability for their actions, and what’s worse is that it works. Furthermore, I bet you it’s those same people who bang on the most about white privilege. These people are actually perverting the true meaning of racism and giving it a new meaning to what it actually means, and it’s extremely disrespectful to those who have suffered from real racism.

Don't feel too refreshed. There's only 1 reason it got called out. Cuz it was against another minority. See, black thought they had carte blanche to get away with anything right now. They got reality checked! Any* minority, or historically discriminated people, is off limits right now. Blacks, Gays, Egyptians, Muslims, etc... Only white can be attacked with impunity. Notice I didn't mention Jews* yet. Ya, the asterisk was for a reason. Jews can just about do anything they want without fear of reprisal. Unless your Weinstein or Epstein. No hate, just the world we live in...

netflix do not control hirings (or at least didnt so far), you have a project you go to them, if you talk to the right people they give you the money and streaming, but you are responsible for pretty much everything, hiring, filming, and usually people that want to push a message are incompetent at hiring.

Yeah. I noticed that as well. The documentary even hints at this by pointing out that she was constantly allying herself with powerful men. The fact that she had Caesar's child suggests that she hoped that child, and perhaps she, would one day rule over Egypt AND Rome.

I'm a young Brit that has been obsessed with Egypt since being a little girl. Absolutely stunning history. What this platform and people involved are doing is such an insult. I had sympathy for the actress initially, before I learnt of all the things she has said, as she looks fantastic in the garb and makeup. This could've been a great SHOW inspired by historical elements (just look at The Mummy, loved the first two films so much!) but they shot themselves in the foot by claiming it is a historical docudrama. This is not a documentary! A documentary must be FACTUAL whether you like it or not! But unfortunately, we all know that this wasn't an ignorant mistake. There is an ideology being pushed and yet they were lazy about their own ideologies! There are definitely tales to be told about black African women, why wouldn't you take joy in researching that supposed heritage/community that you claim to be a part of? So utterly insensitive to snatch another countries history and proclaim untruths/rewrite it to brainwash people. It's actually terrifying that people do not see the dangers of this. Egypt has every right to berate this and I'm rooting for them!

technically, documentaries do not have to be factually correct, its more about how are they structured, what are they trying to transmit to the viewer.. Flat earthers also had their documentary after all.. Plus beeing factually correct is really hard. New stuff keeps coming out and changing what we know about ww2 so imagine how much things we actually miss about stuff that happened when the only thing they had to record any occurence was paper and pen.. or clay table and a stick or whatever. Just look up some documentary about some specific historical subject from 30 years ago or something, i bet big chunk of it will be factually incorrect according to what we already know these days.
