There undoubtedly many many more interesting African rulers, men, women and even regular people that would make for legendary documentaries or dramatised stories as African history is incredibly broad and diverse. This obsession with Egypt has to stop fr, but if people want to focus on black rulers of Egypt at the very least cover the period of Kushite domination of Egypt, when an actual black dynasty from modern day Sudan/Ethiopia ruled Egypt instead of lazily picking a popular figure that many people have already heard about.

I like how it shows the cultural differences between Bayek of Siwa, from the South of Egypt, who was rightfully portrayed as a Black Egyptian, considering the part of the country he hailed from and the Greeks that resided in the northern cities like Alexandria.

But once I thought of it as it’s own thing with some nods to the comics (like my favorite run- the Lemire/Smallwood/Bellaire run), I had a lot of fun! Rewatching it was much better. Oscar and everyone on the cast did an absolute phenomenal job! So, my answer is a bit complicated. Lol
