Hey beautiful. Yonah just shared this to me! Just wanted to thank you for your support and love in this post. There really is a whole lot that we as a group and individuals have negatively endured throughout but still here and still creating promoting #girlpower #womanpower #blackgirlmagic and #belivinginyou I spent 5 years performing Michael Jackson Thriller Live in theatre amongst other iconic shows but stopped to focus on my recording career. COVID has prevented a lot however it gave me the time to finally have the vocal operation and rest that I needed. I'm officially back in the studio and will be coming through very soon. Thank you again for all of your time and research on "killapatra" 😅🤣 sorry, I had to, it's the cutest thing. In fact the girls and I are used to that. In Japan they pronounce as "cooreeopatoa" and in Italy "Clayopatra" and so on.... It's fine 💖👊🏾 don't watch the haters, we embrace the hate and love an accent, just part of a culture 👑💐 Much love, light and darkness (yin-yang) stay balanced. Blessings. Cleopatra Higgins.

@Cleopatra Madonna Higgins OMG!! ❤️❤️ I honestly cannot believe that the video has gotten to you, your sisters and your mother! I'm blown away! It was no problem at all. I really enjoyed putting the video together and learning more about the group and as well as you all individually! Thank you so much for the comment and I am very humbled that you liked the video! I must admit my pronunciations have always gotten the better of me lol! Thank you for the update and may you all continue to shine and thrive especially after Covid! Stay blessed and balanced. Hey @Sephsaysso, thank you for making this video & thank you @Cleopatra Madonna Higgins for your reply. It was me who shared this video with Yonah early this morning & she replied back to me thanking me saying that the video was very informative & that it brought back memories of accolades & achievements she had forgotten. I have been a Cleopatra fan since 1998 when I first saw "Cleopatra's Theme" on BET - a fun music video about 3 beautiful girls with long braids singing about music dreams, dancing, jumping on beds & disturbing their mother & neighbour lol. My mother had dropped the premium channels from the cable package so I wasn't able to get the Disney Channel so I used to go to my cousin's house to see things with Cleopatra since my uncle & aunt had premium channels with the Disney Channel included. The first thing I saw was the cruise ship shows they did. I have family in the U.K. so when I travelled to the U.K. on summer vacation in 1998, I got the full Cleopatra experience as well as the Spice Girls mania experience too. I would buy Top Of The Pops magazines & other magazines with Cleopatra & Spice Girls while I purchased my Sonic The Hedgehog comics & Cadbury Flakes. It was so hard to get Cleopatra content over in the U.S. & upon my summer visit to the U.K. in 2000 I was introduced to "Come & Get Me" & their second album "Steppin' Out". The last time I saw Cleopatra America side again was on BET performing "You Got It" on John Salley's show. I was also not aware that they had a TV show or anything like that. Thanks to KZbin, I am able to see all of these wonderful things Cleopatra did. I am learning more & more about Cleopatra as new content is uploaded. My favourite Cleopatra songs are "Questions & Jealousy" & "Who's Your Woman", "Don't Suffer In Silence", "Life Ain't Easy", "Come & Get Me", "The Bird Song" & some others. Some of these are songs I am currently trying to learn how to play on piano by ear. "Questions & Jealousy" is a song that speaks to me the most because as detailed in this video, Cleopatra did receive a lot of hate & jealousy from people. It is sad because I am learning that most of this hate was motivated by racism by others. The details of that reality show they were on are shocking & I am so sorry to hear that Cleo & Yonah had to deal with that. I can relate because I have endured much hate & jealousy from others due to me being talented & introverted. I play piano & have covered many different songs from different artists on piano - including "Cleopatra's Theme" in videos for my KZbin page that have gotten many views from across international lines. As a result of the viral views I received from the 50 songs I covered on piano (check out the compilation video of these piano covers at this link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIXWpKJ5qJelb6s) , I now do music production. I love music & after nearly being killed doing it in a face slashing incident 11 years ago after me & 3 friends were targeted for a gang initiation (by people who we didn't know) & attacked after a gig we did in Harlem, New York City, I almost gave up on it completely. However I didn't & Cleopatra has been an inspiration for me keeping me inspired & motivated because I did "suffer in silence" for a while following the face slashing incident (I had left New York City & moved to Antigua in the Caribbean due to our attackers being caught & released on bail & still running the streets at large). Cleopatra's songs speak to me & I appreciate the deep lyrics & songs they have made because their music has touched my life on many levels & has helped carry me through the hard times.

Hey @NMEMITV Thank you so so much for sharing the video with Yonah and thank you so much for sharing your story! I am very sorry to hear about your horrific attack! At the same time, it is totally inspiring to hear that despite the fact you were on the brink of giving up, Cleopatra motivated you to keep going and you are now in music production! Thank you again! 💙

Love it when we a decently researched blast from the past of a people who made an impact in the past. I recently was going through memory lane, looking at popular icons and their journeys from Ruff Ryders to Eternal. As good as this one is, why do I keep hearing Kiler-patra instead of Cleopatra 🤦🏿. Anywho, keep it up.

I remember when they debuted, they were all a few years older than me. I thought they were all so cool and pretty. I remember thinking Zainam was one of the beautiful people I'd ever seen, she made me want to wear goggles on my head! I saw Cleo on The Voice and was really excited. She really showed how talented she is. I didn't know anything about the tabloids stirring up BS but I'm not surprised. I really hope her chances of winning were not affected, as she really deserved to. I didn't know anything about Cleo and Yonah on Coach Trip. My heart sank as you explained. They definitely deserved and still deserve more, as both a group and individuals. I hope more success comes their way, they all have incredible voices.

Hey. i’ve had that tune « love was made for us » for a very long long time since 2005 I think. I had it before the « feelin like this single ». There were talks in labels at the time for various major artists to cover it (Leona Lewis was the one that could have given this song justice aside of Cleo), but finally it didn’t make the cut. 🙂

Off topic does anyone remember a young (mid to late teens/15-19?) female pop-r&b singer, I think she was 'mixed race'. I think her title of song went something like 'This Is My Whole Love Story' or 'My Love Story'? it was either originally released in 2001 or 2003 the music was mainly filmed in the Excel Centre in London, England.

Would the first black Major U.K. girl group technically be Eternal? I know they started off as mixed but they were all black when Louise left in 95
@Sephsaysso3 жыл бұрын
@ I'm Not A Cat To be honest, I would say that Eternal were a mixed group when they first started out in 1992 because although the majority of the group were black woman, Louise is white and to say that they were the first black major UK girl group would disregard the fact that Louise was part of the group and had been there from the beginning. I am aware that the group had major success after Louise left, but they also had success whilst she was in the group as well. Whereas with Cleopatra, they arrived on the scene as a black girl group, hence why I said that they were the first UK girl group in the 90s.
