This is why I am anti death penalty. We have, as a nation, put innocent people to death. Look up the case in Texas about the man who allegedly burned his house down with his children inside. He's now dead and he was definitely innocent. There is a movie about it. Tragic.
@JIGWIGPIG
@JIGWIGPIG 4 жыл бұрын
@@gygeson5888 I believe the death penalty is effective when used on the real murderers. Unfortunately it happens sometimes where innocent people are convicted. I believe death sentences should be for the ones who we know without a doubt committed horrible murders. But my stance on the death penalty is changing slowly. If not a death sentence, then life with reoccurring forensic investigations every year to try and prove innocence, even for the truly convicted killers to be fair.

An example, A 91-year-old German woman who is accused of having served as an SS radio operator at Auschwitz has been charged for her role in the murder of 260,000 people at the concentration camp. A radio operator.. If they can prosecute a 91 y.o woman working as a radio operator they can sure as hell prosecute those responsible for torturing a man for 39 years.

Granted there is no value you can place on a persons freedom but the amount of money from the state is an insult. It's not even close to the penalty the state should pay for wrongfully taking someone freedom away an locking him up like he was some kind of animal. I agree with the other commentator. $1M for every year he spent behind bars. This man should never have to work a day in his life after the nightmare he/family was put thorough.
