Based on your previous video, i bought the exact same board and the exact same step on, and loved every single thing about it, now waiting for your full clew review, if they are good i will grab em too. Thanks for the videos!

That looks so neat! Good / clever design and engineering. And can be used with any boot. I still prefer the Burton Step Ons for comfort - no pressure from straps.
@Slovenianwoodworker Жыл бұрын
It looks easy. Dont like the idea to have something strapped onto my boot when walking around. And my main concern is the toe strap. That just won't work in my set up. I like to have toe strap firmly tight for better control and carving. No way that my foot will slide into with half as much force that I usually use on my toe strap. Good demo.

I had a new Burton Stepon and problems with pain and blisters. In my opinion, the 3 contact points are clearly a misconstruction. I then ordered the CLEW and am thrilled. Crisp hold thanks to ratchet and even more comfort than Flow (15 years Flow, 5 years ratchet). My buddy continues Stepon and I'm even faster in than him when leaving the lift. :-P

This may be getting safer.... I saw a video of a snowboarder trapped upside down in a tree well...He would have died had a skier not found him...I have said snowboard bindings need a quick release mechanism...This is on the right path.

I tried my gear this season. After four times on the mountain, I have to say it's not as easy as the video shows. My first complaint is about the toe strap. I can tell that the strap setup in the video is very loose. If I tie it tightly, I can not get in easily. My second complaint is about snow getting stuck on the heel side during powder days. I have to bend over to clean up the snow around the heel lock area. I've owned both Step-On and Clew bindings, and in my opinion, if I plan to snowboard for less than four hours, I'll bring the Step-On since it's easier to get in and out. However, it causes foot pain after four hours.

They should have an option where you have a regular version of the binding on your front foot and then one of these on your back foot. I pretty much have no use for this functionality on my front foot. For the Burton system it makes sense for it to be both but if you could get this a bit cheaper only getting one I think that would be a good option to have.

I'm in. I'd buy that.
@jspaulding41063 жыл бұрын
You can just use the regular straps instead. Adding a second production line and the handling time of specifying a goofy vs regular pair of bindings would likely increase cost instead of reducing it. If you haven't tried getting on and off the lift switch, I recommend it. Sometimes it is nice to leave the opposite foot strapped in, especially when riding with others who ride opposite from you.

only time will tell which design wins between burton and clew. I've been using burton stepins for 2 years back country, groomers, and park, still no issues to report

Hey gooz. Is walking with these bindings similar to walking with just boots? Also, do you need to keep the toe strap looser than normal to accommodate getting in/out of the bindings?
@brianhorsley38633 жыл бұрын
yeah my question exactly, that toe strap can't be fully tight can it?
@gooz3 жыл бұрын
Hey Pierre and Brian, I’ll be discussing that topic in my full review, but to quickly answer your question: After you initially strap in, the straps do not need to be adjusted when stepping in and out!
@JackOfTrades122 жыл бұрын
My toe strap tension was the same. I didn't have to loosen anything. They're basically regular bindings with the extra step in feature. I think it's a leverage thing since you're kind of tilting your boot/toe down, and when you click in, your toe gets pushed up into a tight toe strap.

Is the highback of clew binding comparatively shorter than that of traditional binding ? Does that affect heel side performance?

Can you affirm these won't jam with snow then ice? I love the concept but those moving metal parts, I just see nice ice molds.

I see it leaves a piece of The binding spanning across the heel underneath your boot if you do much walking let's say in a parking lot or in the chalet can you replace that piece that goes across the bottom of your boot?

I am not sure about the mechanics of the release. That's something that can fail on you, and I guess in that case you can't remove the high back from the base plate. And what about the price compared with the Burton Step ons?

Look terrible! How do your boots grip when walking, Burton step-on are amazing and are the future.

Burton boots suck, dc solved that issue. The burton 22’ solved any issues I had with previous models. Locking step out lever, clicking, and much easier to get in and out with tow clips. The clew look super cheap and too many moving parts to break later on. No thanks.
