Steve and Gary will be discussing the important changes related to the new Maryland law governing statutory powers of attorney (POA) that went into effect October 1, 2023 - and much more regarding arguably the most important of all legal documents.
A synopsis of their presentation is below:
“Financial powers of attorney continue to proliferate in estate, elder care, and special needs planning, and in business planning and all types of financial, tax, and estate-related planning. It is important that clients understand the scope and purposes of powers of attorney, along with fiduciaries and the trusted agents who are appointed, so that this singularly powerful legal document serves the proper and legitimate purposes it is designed for in each case. And, that the associated risks and application are understood to the greatest extent possible through client and fiduciary education.

The origins and evolution of financial powers of attorney;
