It's hard to give up on natural nail length. I just cut mine down the other day after months of growth because they were starting to grow downwards, so I understand the clients hesitation for extensions.
@NotTooGoodAtReading943 жыл бұрын
You know, I've never understood this mindset. Genetically, natural nails (for humans anyway) weren't intended to be grown very long. Extensions always look better, especially gel extensions and their variants, because the shape is controlled and designed precisely, so why do people have this attachment to long natural nails? I'm not berating you, I'm genuinely curious!
@Oshidorinohina3 жыл бұрын
@@NotTooGoodAtReading94 because like anything, it's a commitment and it takes effort to keep them strong and nice looking. Same with hair length!
@NotTooGoodAtReading943 жыл бұрын
@@Oshidorinohina hmmmm, I get that idea loosely, but it doesn't make sense in this particular case. Her nails curve downwards which is generally perceived as undesirable. The fact that it's the talking point of this video is indicative of this. So when it comes to 'nice-looking'...debatable. Additionally, one of the main benefits of gel products are their strengthening properties. So unless you're overly careless, it's not really that hard to maintain length. I wouldn't compare nails to hair at all, because hair is much more challenging to maintain, more varied, and generally more susceptible to negative impacts as a result of environmental factors. Not so with nails. At least, not to the same degree.

@@NotTooGoodAtReading94 I think naturally long nails can be an indication of good health, self care, and not needing to work a physically demanding job. While extensions can accomplish many of these objectives, my lack of skill in applying them would take too much time from my work schedule. Also, I used to bite my nails super short, so long natural nails were a physical manifestation of personal growth in managing my anxiety 😌

Guys......I don't think op meant to start a philosophical conversation lol. It's like hair length, sometimes in order to preserve overall length we have to cut off more than what we want sometimes. It's the same with nail shape, in order to get the best results in the future, sometimes we have to get rid of more than we would want to now. Darn, I was hoping there was a solution without extensions too. My nails do the same thing and I like to grow them long, but I'm allergic to gel and acrylic so those aren't an option for me. Sometimes I glue a fake nail to the underside of my existing nail and it helps the curve slightly but nothing I've done has fixed it completely.

For what it's worth, I had wavy nails for decades. I know why. It's an auto immune issue. My nails also curled down when a little long. I also have had ingrown toenails for ever! Now if curling down finger nails is a genetic symptom I doubt this is going to help. I began taking a greens powder shake drink product, just for well being. 2 teaspoons daily. Didn't expect much. 6 months later, my nails were thicker, stronger & perfectly STRAIGHT! People always think I have acrylic nails now. Or false ones. So much fun painting them! I also have heaps of other improvements or disappearances of health issues, including no more ingrown toenails. There are several companies that produce these products. I buy huge 1kg containers online & they are extremely affordable. $105 Australian. $75 US. Lasts more than 1 year. One has 78 nutrients. Another 81. I wish you good health & happiness. 😊

Natural nails aren’t meant to grow perfectly straight forever (unless you have some help shaping them with product). Of course, some people’s nails start to curl at shorter lengths than others but inevitably all nails start to curl if they grow long enough.

I searched the whole comment section for this question. It seems most people think this is just the way some peoples nails grow.. This happens because of mineral or vitamin deficiency (most of the time when they were younger they never had these problems or they will say they always did thinking that you can’t be born deficient of one of these things at birth and these things can’t be fixed. Not true..)Your skin hair and nails are great indicators of something missing.. they tell you if your liver, thyroid, adrenals, harmonies, mineral , & vitamin levels are out of wack.. amongst other things. I would get a similar thing happen to my nails (a curve right in the middle of my mail bed ESPECIALLY in my thumbs) and when I started to fix those issues my nails grew out straight and extremely strong. So it’s not just how it is, it’s a deficiency and if you ask them if they experience other issues depending on how aware the person is of their body they will usually confirm.. You would be surprised at how many people will say no cuz their doctor said their was no issue according to the numbers or tests but their body is saying YES…. Mineral rich (with aloe works out better for some peoples digestion) by Maximum Living is pretty good with the necessary minerals and vitamins that are needed to fix these problems. If you don’t see any improvements check out what’s going on with gut absorption. I’m not a doctor and don’t pretend to be one….. but most doctors really aren’t doctors either 🤭😬 so best thing is to learn and know your body and test it out for yourself.. if anything your skin hair and nails will grow out quickly and beautifully.. hope that helps 🙂

They say there's nothing ypu can do to fix a nail that curves downward, but I have noticed that when I wear full tips for long periods of time, the curve gets a little better. I think if I wore full tips constantly (just changing them to new ones every two weeks or so) then in about 6-8 months my nail shape would flatten a bit. I'm going to try an experiment and see if it works. I know you can fix toenails that grow down (ingrown toenails) with nail braces because I did it, so I don't see why a similar approach shouldn't work on fingernails. I know in my case, the toenail took one entire year of wearing a brace on it to permanently retrain it.
