It's great to watch your videos like this because as a beginner you keep falling all the time and get frustrated. But it's reassuring to see more experienced riders trying new things and also falling. Makes me want to keep going and not let a small tumble deter me!

Hey Kevin, love your videos I have a question and if you've answered it on another video I might have missed let me know I've started snowboarding recently and am progressing fairly well, although when I go rent my board the rental guys always ask me how to set up my board and bindings? They ask if " 9 o clock or do I want it more aggressive" Didn't know what it meant and was wondering if you could touch up on it or give some insight on what's the best way to set up a board for beginners Thanks again, -Carlos R from Colorado 👍🏼

How do you make sure there's not some hidden rock under your landing spot?
@fathomz8 жыл бұрын
walk it first?
@Left.Lane.Loiterer8 жыл бұрын
If theres a rock you'll be able to see a raise in the snow. You just have to make sure you're only doing drops on days with plenty of powder that hasn't be blown out by other people dropping in the same spot.
@Left.Lane.Loiterer8 жыл бұрын
Nooo that ruins your landing area. Plus walking through powder is exhausting. You just have to eyeball it and use your better judgement

The snowball idea can help, you want to see how deep into the snow the ball goes.

Have you ever been snowboarding outside of whistler? I have been snowboarding in whistler twice before and found that the snow isn't any better than the snow in Europe. Just think I would get bored of snowboarding the same place all season.
@NYCEmpire8 жыл бұрын
I think you had it at 4:02. Not too far forward. Good angle, but you didn't stomp the landing. Power through it with your legs. Seems like you leaned left and lost the center of gravity. These are good for studying yourself. Cool channel

So how much does the pow actually cushion your drop and how deep does it need to be? I've watched so many free-ride snowboard movies and drop offs always look hectic, the explosion of snow on the landing looks like it cushions you but it still looks so dangerous! I'm worried about blowing out a knee or ankle if I land too heavy..... I can handle doing a drop off/drop in on a sloped landing with firm snow because the way you meet the landing looks/feels more natural. But a flat landing even in deep pow looks brutal. And does this same "heavy on the back foot" landing technique work when trying to hit consecutive drops or pillows?
