I question about that with a bar because je sets sets up Deathreats (6th) Ghostories (7th) and Gravestones (9th) albums on several songs, yet I heard him say lyrics to it in a 2014 track. How would he know 4 years before he released the first of that series of albums?

Writers sometimes recycle lyrics ie the wolfs den with Tom MacDonald is another one. And the “dipped in carbon fiber liquid”. It’s quite common actually. He probably had those bars from a long time ago and molded them into another project when it finally came together in his head. If that makes any sense?

The industry will always be there. There is too much money and politics involved.... but and a huge but, Artist like Tom, Upchurch, Joyner Lucas etc.... have such raw talent that they stand out without the machine pushing them. You will see independent artists teaming up eventually and creating their own thing. It’s kind of already happening. It cuts the industry out. They collect more of their earnings but in return they are singled out and won’t get much/ if any radio play and all the other shit that comes with being on a label. The industry has an agenda and if you’re not apart of it they will do what they can to blackball you.

@@CliffBeatsOfficial yeah my thoughts exactly and Adam Calhoun just started his own label and signed Broadnax. I think as long as we have platforms like KZbin, Spotify, etc. independent artists can make it and stay independent. Tom and Upchurch have figured it out and how to make it work and have a successful blueprint. It May take longer to blow up, build a fan base, etc. but I definitely think independent music will continue to grow and I'm excited for it. I just found a UK rock band that's kind of independent, not signed but not as independent as Tom, that's amazing!

Either way, we’re going to continue to be blessed with good music label or no label. There are pros and cons to being independent and being on a label. It’s all about what fits you personally. But owning your music is very very important.

When they sign a million dollar contract they essentially owe the record company a million dollars.... that has to be paid back through sales and other revenue... and with digital music the artist maybe earns a few cents off every download. Tom gets all the cents. It's just too much work for most of these "rappers" ..... they want to be at the club or on the beach....
