This one has a dual meaning for Corey now. Originally the song was written about a relationship. Corey didn't really write things for Slipknot, but when Paul Gray the bassist heard it, he basically championed for it to be finished and released as a Slipknot track. Paul passed away in 2010 from an overdose of mixing meds. So for Corey it's not just about lost love, but also the loss of one of a close friend.

How does one begin ghostwriting? I've been writing poetry and songwriting since childhood but figured I was just meant for labour since I'm a big dude. At near 30 I'm realizing if I keep going with labour I'm going to off myself so I have been contemplating trying to make my hobby / mental exercises into a career.

Keep going man cliff has other platforms to go on and checkout along with other platforms American song writers has a forum that you can submit stuff too even if it isn't in a standard song form, if that's what really helps don't give up on that there's way to many places to get help, you don't have to be in your head alone, you never know how your choice to keep going and trying could be the difference in writing something that saves someone else's life also.
@toddmiller14982 жыл бұрын
The question of what or who the song is about has been asked many times. I was there and I know but, as open as Corey is about most of his life I am not familiar with him ever discussing the back story to Snuff. Due to that I don't feel right in disclosing it either. This was recorded after Paul's passing and the song meant something to Paul which is why Corey kept looking upward.

The song is about someone that helped him through a very dark time, most believe it to be related to his band member and long time best friend Paul Gray who passed away due to an overdose in 2010. Corey fell for the person who helped him through this, but they didn't reciprocate the feelings the same way. It broke him but helped him discover himself.
@zergonomic1821 Жыл бұрын
It was written about Corey's ex-wife Scarlett, who helped him through his alcoholism and suicide attempts. It was recorded months before Gray's death. According to Corey Taylor himself; "Again, not naming names, it's about someone who helped me through a lot and I thought she felt the same way that I did and then she really let me down." Though since Gray's death he has dedicated the song to him in live performances.

being as empathetic as you are it may have been better that you didn't know Corey's back story before listening to this one for the first time... i don't think I could have.. but after hearing the song knowing that Corey had recently opened up I felt he deserved the respect to find out... and it kicked my a#$... hearing the song again put everything into a much different perspective that wrecked me pretty good for a couple of days but I was foolish enough to do all of this with my best friend at the time so did so managing the weight of all three of our emotions... that friend was only with us another 2yrs so I'm sure you can imagine the weight he was carrying when he story wasn't far from Corey's... much love and mad respect to Corey and yourself... ❤💯❤💯❤💯❤💯❤💯❤💯❤💯❤💯❤💯❤💯❤💯❤😳❤💯❤💯❤💯❤💯❤💯

This song kind of hits hard, because of the whole entire theme of somebody helping you through a dark time, and then abandoning you, went through got a few years back, If looking to Branch out from hip Hop/rap I would recommend metallica, slayer, and just so many bands like that then you have like Viking metal Amon Amarth, or pirate metal like alestorm.
