I used to be an athiest and arrogant like that too and would debate priest. One day I came across the verse Jeremiah 29:13 "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." I decided I am going to have an open mind and open heart and approach it. I got on my knees and said "I don't know if you exist, but if you do please show yourself to me" and genuinely meant it. I saw God and I can't deny the miracles he is done for me. I have been christian for the past 13 years and my life is so much better for it.

this is how I did it too! though I was more of a lukewarm christian who'd been lost because of other pagan beliefs, and i wasn't really that convinced of Him. one day, I really genuinely asked God to show himself to me and prove to me that He is really real. The way He showed up in my life was really undeniable and He is so consistent that I can't deny it any longer ❤️ i hope more people would just sit down and genuinely asked Him.

I can understand him. I think what I am going to need as proof is a supernatural experience, a vision or unmistakable voice of Jesus. I can't see that reading the bible would work for me because I don't understand it, I don't know how to read into what is meant. I don't understand why an all powerful God would sacrifice/have his son killed to save humanity, I just cannot make sense of that. Any suggestions will be much appreciated 🙏

@@ansn5108 pray and genuinely ask God to reveal himself. Pray and ask for faith. If God is not there, he couldn’t answer. He may answer directly in your heart. He may answer in the supernatural (I have seen prayers answered, including miraculous healing, life changes, and resurrection). The Bible is both simple and deep. Read John in “the message” translation for a modern simple read. Read proverbs to know how to live. Read acts in the “amplified” translation to understand the modern global church. Above all, find a knowledgeable friend to answer your questions. The Bible was written to different cultures at different times, and translated. @@ansn5108Hi! The sacrifice of Jesus for the redemption of all humankind is a huge concept to wrap one’s mind around-even for many faithful Christians! I would suggest that rather than worrying about fully comprehending what it means (which will come in time with faithful study of scripture), that you first come to Jesus as He says to do in the Bible: as a “little child.” Meaning that you need NOTHING MORE than simple, innocent, humble faith in order to receive salvation. I would suggest that the very next moment you are alone, you fall to your knees, bow your head and close your eyes, and open your heart like a child’s, and just speak from your heart something like, “Jesus, I want to know you. I am struggling with my faith but in this moment I am going to trust you. I repent of my sins and want to be forgiven. Please be with me.” Literally just like that, the way a child would believe in something-with all the hope that it’s true but without full understanding. And if you do this, if you humble yourself in your doubts and take a tiny step of blind, innocent faith, and repent of your sins in the name of Jesus as Peter proclaims in Acts 2:38, He will be faithful to His promise of salvation. Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Romans 10:9-13 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

As a former atheist who recently had revelation from Our Lord Jesus Christ. I say, we think to much, I was once like this man. Over processed things, over analyzed everything. The best advice I can give to people who are looking to know Jesus and are prepared to walk with the Holy spirit is, stop thinking, open your heart, and surrender. I think these 3 things are the hardest things to do for people like this man and the man I was before, Jesus gave me a new heart and I was born again. The main reason is arrogance, ignorance, but the main doubt comes through pride. This pride that you are your only master and nobody is above you, that knowing scientific jargon makes you superior in other words, your high horse. In order to accept Jesus you have to get off, get on your knees and literally surrender yourself, your life, your heart, your spirit and allow for Father the Son and Holy spirit to guide you. In the Bible it says "do not lean on your own understanding of the world for my ways are higher than your, and my thoughts are higher than yours" and that's it. That's the critical point, being able to say, I'm not worthy of you Lord, I'm broken, I'm a sinner, I can no longer do this on my own and I repent! that's when it happens when you profess it with your mouth and your words the holy spirit will decent upon you and fill your empty cup with love, peace and the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Logic has no place in faith, because as Jesus said to his disciples "You believe in me because you see me, but imagine the faith one that does not see me need to have to believe in me" (paraphrasing for clearer understanding) in other words in order to have faith you need to be blind and slowly God will open your eyes to the truth and then one day it just makes sense, and everything you thought was impossibly, unbelievable, and questionable all of a sudden becomes clear as day, real as flesh. My spiritual journey with Jesus has been so short, no less than 2 months, but in this short time I have learned so much and I'm eager to learn more and to know Jesus more intimately so that I can have a closer relationship with Him. My journey goes back probably about 4 months ago when I started seeing Jesus everywhere, videos on KZbin, movie, people and one night around beginning of June this culminated in an overwhelming feeling that God was real and it brought me to my knees, I sat in my dark living room being crushed by the weight of life, I felt it and heard it in my thoughts "You are mine" I wept, like a baby, sobbing I looked up towards the heavens and professed it with my mouth "Lord Jesus I accept you as my Lord and Savior, I give you my life, I surrender to you for I cannot do this by my self any longer, save me from myself Lord, I turned my back on you for so many years and you never turned your back on me, I'm a sinner, and I repent, I repent Lord, I'm sorry." And that's when I felt that crushing weight lift from my shoulders and overwhelming sense of peace and love came to me and I physically felt His loving arms hug me at this point I was standing up hugging back and I tell you, it may sound ridiculous for many, but I telling you the truth, this is what happened. That day my life changed from depression, anxiety, guilt, self doubt, drugs, alcohol and everything I was engaged in left me. I like to think the old me is dead, because now the veil has been lifted, for I was blind and I was healed by our Lord Jesus Christ and now I see. He said follow me and I obeyed. This in my opinion is hard for atheists to follow because they are so used to think they have no master. But we do. LIsten to your heart if it's opened he will knock on the door all you have to do is let Him in. For he is the way, the truth and the life and I promise you if you walk with Him he will walk with you even in the darkest cave or highest mountain.

So Jesus is the only way and only believing and following him brings you salvation? Then why is he only appearing to a very small amount of people, and that 295k years after we humans came up in this world? He acted in a small area while all the Earth was already full of humans. Billions and billions of people never even had the chance to know him. And after he died, this religion spread over brutal military power in North Europe, in America , in parts of Asia and in Australia. Till today 2/3 of humans do not follow that religion, not because they are bad, but because they are socialized in other religions and convictions. A very bad strategy of a guy that offers the ONLY way and also a very unsuccessful way. Doesnt sound like the strategy of a god that created all universe and billions of galaxies with billions of solar systems in it. It sounds rather like a man-made invented local religion that made it to spread and needs several justifications.

Answer for atheist followed by answer for Cliff the Christian.. Atheist: He said it himself, 7:29 “once you acknowledge there is something higher than humanity it belittles us.” This guy tried so hard to control the conversation and keep it where his argument was strong and avoid his weak points that Cliff very tactically drew out. But they both completely missed this man pointing to the Crux of his whole argument. He does not want an authority higher than him. And his whole position is derived from this position. That he is his own highest authority and therefore his own analysis of evidence is the judge and jury for all verdicts of evidence. He is playing judge, jury, and executioner. Which means that no evidence will ever be enough because it’s a kangaroo court. It’s rigged from the beginning. He has no accountability higher than himself. Answer to Cliff: the only way to break down someone who has already came to a conclusion is to purpose an irrefutable fact (singular) that they already agree with but haven’t followed the string or path that this truth must conclude. Cliff did a great job trying to get him to see the question of morality and ethics but in my experience, atheists never budge on this because they consider themselves to be ethical and moral without God. It’s flawed but their hearts do not agree with the premise therefore they cannot follow the string to its ultimate conclusion. Try this instead.. Your an atheist, you believe the universe had a beginning? (This works either with a yes or a no) Yes: good, so all scientists that agree that the universe began say they do not know how or why. What we do know is that in the beginning “time, matter, and space” all came into existence simultaneously. In order for this to happen, there had to be something external injecting information or interacting with “nothing” for suddenly something to come into existence. Nothing cannot create itself. Newstons 1st law and 3rd law of thermodynamics both say only with something external acting on something else can cause change. This is undeniable that whatever caused the beginning could not be nothing, and could not be physical, temporal, and spacious. (matter, space, time.) If they answer no, still use argument above but first show them this: OK so you believe everything existed for infinity, do you reject the Big Bang? They will answer that they accept the Big Bang. No scientist alive rejects the evidence for the Big Bang, we just don’t know the cause but we know it happened. Then explain to them the same thing from answer above. With small adjustment. “Something existed before the Big Bang? Eternally? That sounds pretty stable. Tell me, how can an infinitely stable thing whatever it may be. Become unstable? Without something external acting upon it? It can’t. Something external had to act upon this infinite stable thing to cause it to become unstable and result in the Big Bang. And the thing external could not be the thing itself, it must be outside of this infinitely stable thing.

I like your argument, although I am biased because I proposed the same one. You sound like you love the big picture arguments that revolve entirely around logic, so here: "The logical contradiction regarding valuation upon secularism", by me. [Under the assumption of a secular worldview]: Why does anything you do have any value to yourself? Because you do value things, therefore you have a reason for it. We establish that 'reason' is a function of 'value'. However, there is a distinction between 'inherent value' and 'transitive value'. "I value growing corn to grow corn" is a recursive statement regarding valuation. It assumes that 'growing corn' has inherent value, but such thing cannot be proven, rather, the opposite form: 'transitive valuation' is more likely as we can test for this both by asking and by watching the actions of an individual: "Hey you, don't you grow corn so that you can eat it? Yeah, that's, right, I saw you the other day doing such. Or maybe it was to sell the corn." A person's actions, with regards to a reason, if hypothetical and unproven, provides the evidence for intent. In any case we have the actions of a human being deciding action based not off evidence for inherent value, rather a transitive value: "The reason I grow corn is so that I can feed my pigs". If we put this expression in variable form (A) and (B), etc., some may better conceptualize the point of this argument. "You said that (A) has value, and when I asked why, you said that it derives its value from (B), thus (A) doesn't possess any inherent value, only that its value is transitive, deriving from the subsequent action." The obvious line of questioning that both 1991's Arnold Schwarzenegger's character and any toddler that you may be a parent of, presents itself: "Why". "Okay, so why is (B) valuable? Because it derives its value from (C), and the same for (D), and (E), and so on and so forth approaching eternity". No inherent value is derived to prove that one action should be done over the other. Further, thermal equilibrium is an inevitability. If all of your valuation depends upon transition (transitive value), and there is no more transition from one action to another (because of thermal equilibrium), then there is no more value that can be derived. It is why you cannot value 'nothing', do 'nothing', inverse the number 0, or be an influential variable with a 0 correlational value, etc. As such, the entire string of supposed valuation of all of its concerned actions: (A)->(B)->(C)->etc., relies upon this. We conclude from this that since there is no more transitive value that can be derived, there is no associated value to any string of actions, actually conducted or otherwise hypothetical. In this world we have come to the conclusion that both inherent value is unproven, and that transitive value not being able to exist for eternity results in no value. Since our actions rely upon this valuation, none of our actions can be considered having value. Despite knowing that any and all of our actions have no value, and unable to prove otherwise, the secularist will continue to conduct actions. We, as free beings, do not possess the option to not choose to conduct an action. But when the secularist conducts an action, by such, they are "stating" that said action (of no value) is more valuable to do at that moment than any other action (of no value). But how can this be? That an action of no established value can be expressed as having value relative to others of no established value? This is a logical contradiction. Logical contradictions do not indicate that, I as its possessor, is correct and the rules of the world are incorrect. It instead indicates that I, as its possessor, is incorrect about the rules of the world. So, in this example, what am I incorrect about? I would be incorrect to assume that value can be established unto any action through secularism. But we conduct valuation, so what must I be missing, if secularism cannot be true upon this basis? How about the fact that I am missing God.

@@iguess2739 very well said. May be a little too sophisticated for most readers in this forum of KZbin posts😂. In my experience the value and moral arguments hold very little water with atheists because all of them are practicing cognitive dissonance. But living in a way that there is, judging and holding others and all people in all time accountable to their standards of good moral ethics. The argument that guy was making is so frustrating to listen to because I WAS that guy before I found the truth. His problem is that he has too much pride in his own intellect and probably can't even see it. Being able to see that your own "intellectual superiority" is actually empty and miserable is enough to make you question it. And that's exactly where I found my way to God. Having to dig myself into misery and realize I don't have all the answers led me to learning about God, and trusting that God knows the right way for us to live is such an incredibly freeing and comforting alternative. I genuinely pray that people like him don't give up their inquisitive nature, but find the ability to be open and honest about the world around them. Jesus' life, death, and resurrection is not a story or fantasy. It's historical and as real as anything else you may learn about in school, and that's simply very hard to accept when you are closed minded to anything outside of what you have experienced firsthand. The shift in commitment is never from Christ to evil; it is always from Christ to SELF. And instead of his will, self-interest now rules and what I want reigns. And that is the essence of sin.” -from This Day with the Master by Dennis F. Kinlaw

To answer the atheist’s question at the end: “is there more work to be done once I’ve decided that the evidence is not sufficient.” Yes. Answer the door for yourself. This is a good answer and would save both of their time but obviously the atheist would reject it as his heart is hardened. Take crossing the road for example. Hundreds of road accidents happen everyday. Knowing that, I’d say the evidence is insufficient to prove that I’ll be 100% safe. However, I still choose to cross the road or drive a car because I have faith that I’ll be safe. Not because of the evidence but because of taking action, like answering the door myself as you said.

The problem with intellectual people is that they rarely can admit when they are wrong. He loves intelligence therefore would internally fight to need to always be right. This is unfortunate for them because that mindset is why the truth will never be revealed to them. They could read the bible 1,000 times and still not see the truth. God only reveals it to you when you humble yourself before him and confess that you need him in your life. Its sad really. So many people will suffer eternally over their own ego.

It doesn't scare me, I just find the viewpoint limiting and flawed. We don't always make decisions based on fear you know? If one chooses apples over oranges for lunch, it doesn't mean they fear oranges does it? Also, it may not always be just one reason either. Some people might be allergic to oranges, some might have gotten sick and almost died from consuming rotten oranges, and some might just hate the taste and citrus flavour or dislike the intense sweetness. There are a myriad of reasons and they are all valid.
@user-hp4nk6qp6p
@user-hp4nk6qp6p Ай бұрын
@Jackson_Zheng wow....that's a first for me. Deciding whether to live your life whether God exists is akin to whether or not one likes oranges. Now that's a massive false equivalency if I ever saw one... The weight and consequences of those 2 situations are basically on opposite ends of the spectrum. When making decisions about whether to live your life as if God did or didn't exist should hopefully be made with more diligence than "I don't like the rules or restrictions that come with God (perhaps akin to the sour taste of oranges in your wonderful analogy), so therefore I'm good." No. This is eternality that's at stake here, it should be the most fundamental question of everyone's life - is there life after death. Once that question is taken truly seriously, only then can a diligent pursuit of truth begin.

I was an atheist for 20+ years. Like Cliff, I thought I had arguments/evidence against God. Then I had a heart attack/NDE and HAD to come back to the foot of the cross. I can't make an intellectual argument for why I believe. Every argument can be taken to task somehow. It comes down to trust at some point. Anyone could tell me I hallucinated/dreamt up/made up things in my own head, or whatever. But in my days of apostasy and sin, I did almost every drug to man. I also slept most nights of my life. I have never hallucinated or dreamt anything near what I "saw", and don't believe everything I experienced could even "fit" or be contained in a physical human brain/head. I will trust my experience, and trust what knowledge has been given to us by history and the Church of Christ about Him. "By their fruits you shall know them." This guy Cliff talked about "flourishing". I don't see flourishing fruits in the lives of those who oppose Christ, but I see it in the lives of those who follow Him and live by His words. Thank you, Jesus, for bringing me to the edge of death so I could could see true life in You! "Blessed are they who have not seen and yet believe!"

How would I answer this question? Can we still have faith if we - reject the evidence of God by knowing our minds are limited. Saying it in a different way. My mind is limited so I can't trust it with no matter how much evidence is presented. Cliffe answered this awesomely. It's a materialist mind set. I have faith that my mind is flawed, so therefore I can't trust it to make a rational decision concerning the existence of God. Cliffe answered it this way. You DO have faith. This guy's faith is in the fact that he's a bunch of cells in a body that came from evolution. Thats his faith. Essentially, I would have answered. It's all you got! You don't have anything else to judge the world by except by your own mind, and you doubt it. You have to answer (as Cliffe pointed out), the basic questions of life. He's rejecting the great line "I think, therefore I am." He can't trust that phrase. The next step would be to examine the evidence, which he would not do.

I'll be honest, even as a Christian, I didn't understand where Cliffe was going with the convo. But then towards the end, I understood where he was going - everyone is living by faith in something, and it impacts our worldview as a whole whether we realize it or not. If you deny God's existence, then you have to give an account for the presuppositions you're holding. And the atheist in the video denied he held to relativism, but Cliffe exposed him there was no other option. The atheist was asking if there's hope for him if he denies there's evidence for Jesus, but recognizes his own fallibility. Cliffe was asking how he can consistently hold to there being no evidence for Jesus, while maintaining beliefs he has no rationality or justification. This was great presupp apologetics, and I didn't even realize Cliffe was going presupp.

Some always think that they ask the same question with a cherry on top and it's a different question, more sophisticated, but when you peel all the layers down, it comes down to the same question. May God reveal himself to those who are searching sincerely.

Cliff, as usual, phenomenal job… the ONE QUESTION I wanted him to ask the atheist was since he proclaimed that all the evidence he’s heard (though he didn’t explicitly say what that evidence was) wasn’t enough for him to believe; WHAT then would be enough evidence for him to believe? I would have loved to hear his answer.

The answer is yes. You should keep looking. I've gone almost 50 years of my life not really believing in God. Even being a hardcore logically minded atheist. I've recently become a Christian. I know ot happens to people all the time, but I'm truly surprised and delighted. Thank you for not giving up on me, Lord.

The thiest argues on the absolutes of the unmovable Holy Scripture, the athiest argues on the stability of a moving train. One roots in the majesty of God we can see in the creation, the other believes in the wretched man in the mirror that chance has created and the philosophical mind that he has concocted, using the mind God has created.

17:55 an answer to this mans question: there is an illusion within the atheist perspective that value is simply in what we acknowledge as valuable. If you acknowledge the Christian God's existence, you will understand that he gave us the understanding of value. What I'm trying to say from a Christian perspective is that the only way we could ever even deviate from God's will, is through the gifts that God has given us. We would be distorting the reality of God's power and love for us.

I think this guy is an intelligent man, who has probably thought more critically about this than the majority of you - Partially out of interests, and partly out of necessity. It’s not a simple feat, and frankly even a remotely smart atheist can dominate a religious debate… You’re debating factual, scientific evidence vs. faith of a 200 year book. Only once it’s read or someone truly opens up enough to give it a chance does it happen. Honestly… I would say immerse yourself for 30 days and actually be open to it. If don’t feel anything, then all you did was learn more about what you don’t. If you do… It changed your life for the better ❤️

The possibility for God is clear in the young man's question. He wanted the green light to why he should consider God due to his own human nature of the fact that we don't know everything, we can make mistakes, we don't have an absolute complete picture of everything. The man didn't need the green light, although Cliff gave it to him, he knew the answer already/ he knows it. Even looking logically at the question, the answer is yes, most definitely. God is more than worth the try - if ye seek, ye shall find. Look for God and I am quite confident that you will find Him. God is very real, the most real 'thing' in fact, He is life. Give God a chance, brother, I dearly assure you it is the absolute best thing you can do. God bless you. I pray you will find God, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

It simply boils down to LOVE. 1 John 4:16 'So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.' If you believe in love you believe in God - even though you may call yourself an atheist - it makes no difference because God is Love and Love is, wether you believe it or not.

1. Finding faith is finding yourself first 2. Once you find yourself you have spiritually identified your soul 3. Reading scripture helps you find the faith 4. Keeping it close to you everyday keeps the faith 5. You now you have tied yourself to God 6. Live that way everyday until you physically leave this world 7. Once you've physcially left your body you are ready for judgement day (And if you followed these steps God will easily welcome you. If not hell or back into another body and back into the physcial world you go until you get it right)

This persons ego was so in the way of seeing that he, himself questioned his own atheism. The crack is where Cliffe IMHO should have invited him to explore further and empathized because so many struggle with these questions as I did. The key with God is a true release of control and realization that God provides the value in this life not us. We are gifted life and as any parent wants his child to succeed, God is no different.
