@@robertmitchell-tv5yf Man didn’t sin first. It was Lucifer. The story of Lucifer's fall from grace is rooted in pride and rebellion against God. According to Isaiah 14:12-14, Lucifer desired to elevate himself above his Creator and sought to claim the position and authority that rightfully belonged to God alone. This led to his eventual expulsion from heaven, along with a group of angels who chose to follow him in his rebellion (Revelation 12:7-9). Those angels are now known as demons. The answer is two-fold. For one thing, God could have made a world with no evil in it. However, it would have been one of robots and puppets-creatures who could not love Him or anyone else. Love is possible only for free moral creatures; forced love is a contradiction. So, in order for the world to be morally good, it must be morally free. And free creatures are capable of free choices that bring disease, disaster and death. This is the world in which we live.

Now all the screaming and arguing some students do is because they want to win, but there's no winning scenario here, smarter atheist have either converted to Christianity when they studied deeper or they reach the conclusion the Bible is true but they can't accept the supernatural. These students have been asking the same questions atheists for centuries have done it and its not because it hasn't been answered, it has but they ignore it. The NT is history, prophecy, and commentary. Traditionally there are 4 gospels, but I would argue that Revelation is the fifth Gospel because in spite of all the wrath and judgment, for believers it holds good news and a message of hope and redemption. The first 4 gospels along with Acts are largely historical. Everything else is commentary. I say that because the Apostles had no authority to add or subtract from the core message of the Torah and/or Gospels; only to explain them on more personal levels towards their respective audiences (I.e. Romans, Corinthians, etc.). When considered like this, it allows for us to remember that Paul, for example, was a believer and follower of Christ - NOT ON PAR WITH HIM. So we can consider what he says as true, but also to be taken with a grain of salt. An example of this is when he informs that women not speak in gatherings. This is a direct command to that specific audience and not the whole of all believers. Christ never commanded this, nor did God Almighty. We know this is a localized instance because Scripture records female prophetesses as well as women who did preach and started churches (such as Lydia). Point being, as I stated earlier, the NT expands upon the OT (it does not replace it), and is comprised of history, prophecy, and commentary.
@spacecoastz40267 ай бұрын
*Everything else is commentary* No. Everything is the Word of God....and either you believe this or the bible is just "opinion" of man. If that's the case you might as well just throw it away. Have you not read Galatians, where Paul talks about being given the Gospel message of Salvation by the risen Christ himself, and not through human wisdom and words? It's not about "taken with a grain of salt" but rather understanding the audience and context. 11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. Galatians chapter 1 6 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [c]instruction in righteousness, 2 Timothy chapter 3
@Maikigai7 ай бұрын
@@spacecoastz4026 Ok, let’s reason this out. 1. Your reference to 2 Tim. was written at a time when there was no NT. The only scriptures that existed at the time were the OT. As far as Paul was concerned, he was writing a letter to the believers in Galatia and (as with all his writings) pointing them back to the OT (what Messiah also did). 2. The Law of God (Torah) as well as the Messiah said (commanded) that nothing be added to or subtracted from what was said. Then Paul, Peter, etc. writes a bunch of “books” as we call them today adding to them? No, they were only reiterating what was already said and not at all adding to them. If they were adding, then they are false prophets. They had *no* authority to add or subtract from already established commands. In fact, neither did Messiah because according to Deuteronomy 13, if he did or said anything at all to add or subtract from God’s Law, we are supposed to consider him a false prophet. 3. Now, why are the letters of the apostles commentary? For one, they were never writing to all believers. That’s why they are letters to specific people-groups. An example would be the passage I referenced about “your” not “all” women. But if you look at those letters, you’ll see such comments like, “what a wretch I am!” Well… the man is either saved or he isn’t… which is it? He’s a wretch or born again - pick one. They both can’t be true. Second, Paul tells some of the people he writes to to greet one another with a “holy kiss” (ex. 2 Cor. 13:12); do you take that as a command from God? Do you even do that? When you see other believers who don’t, do you correct them and remind them that Paul told us (though he didn’t tell the world to do so) to greet each other with holy kisses? I’m willing to bet you don’t. Another point is his instruction in Col. 4:17, “Tell Archippus ‘see to it that you complete the service you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.’” Have you sought out anyone by that name to tell them that message? Not likely. How about the letters to be sent in Revelation to those seven churches? Do those locations, nearly 2,000 years later, still require to be preached those messages? Is Laodicia still “lukewarm”? Point being in this respect; no, not everything is “the word of God” in the letters of the apostles. Their core message is enlightening and relevant, to repent, obey God’s Law, etc… but all they were meant to do was add commentary. Messiah did much the same in his teachings because, as I stated before, he nor anyone had the authority to add or subtract from the Law of God. But he did expand upon them. An example of that is how the Law tells us not to commit adultery; Messiah explained that it isn’t just a matter of refraining physically, that it goes all the way to your thoughts of lust which are the same deed. No one had taught that before him. That’s why his teachings were so profound. He was teaching the meaning of the Law (the spirit of it) rather than the physical application of it (the letter). I believe that any believer can carry out the gospel as children of God and disciples of Messiah without the letters of the apostles. I don’t believe they should be removed because they make for great commentary and as an added challenge for weeding out people who are not berean-minded and might actually believe such instructions like “your women should remain silent” are for all women on earth, but they are not necessary for entering nor guiding to the Kingdom of Heaven. God’s word is necessary. Paul’s writings are not. Since neither God nor Messiah issued such a command, you know that Paul (who had no authority to add commands which would make him a false prophet) was only communicating that to specific groups of people. Notice in 1 Timothy 2:12 - who gives the command? “I”. Who is “I”? Paul. He never once in all his writings (through his scribe) said “thus says the Lord”. Rightfully so. God did not tell him to write these things. This is similar to a pastor helping congregants resolve an issue within their own church. These were isolated issues and Paul, as a leader, was giving instructions to these isolated places. Otherwise, he’d have written the exact same thing to every church he wrote. He didn’t. Commentary. Though, that’s a bit of a stretch considering a lot of his writings are greetings, well-wishes, and self-loathing with a hint of speculation. Consider 2 Corinthians 12:2, “I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know-God knows.” Ok, so for one he doesn’t know if he was in the body or out. Two, he even tells us this is a personal story of someone else that he knows of. The man is speculating, admits he doesn’t know one way or the other, and says only God would know. But he’s speaking on behalf of God, right? God speculates? He was inspired to write that he didn’t know an apparently important aspect of the story? That’s dodgy. IF we are to consider this the word of God. If not, then OK, it’s just a man writing a letter about someone he knows and Nicea decided to add it to the Scriptures…. As Commentary. But by all means, if you believe this is the inspired word of God, feel free to start going around greeting believers with kisses. Or, be a Berean and work out the difference. I’m willing to bet that most confusion and conflict comes in when a person reads something Messiah said or that Moses wrote and compares them to the letters of the apostles, they’re not certain often times which is true over the other. I’ve seen it countless times. “Jesus said _______, but Paul said _______…” I’d have to go with Messiah over Paul. Even Peter had to warn people that Paul was hard to understand. God is not the author of confusion.
@spacecoastz40267 ай бұрын
@@Maikigai So let me summarize your long winded comment. You don't believe in the bible....you don't consider the letters of Paul, Peter, James, John, etc Scripture. And you don't recognize the difference between the Old Covenant vs the New. God isn't the author of confusion, but that doesn't mean that Scripture is without depth. Sorry to say but you are in a sad place.
@spacecoastz40266 ай бұрын
@@Maikigai *Ok, let’s reason this out* Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. 2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:1-6

It is written in 2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, and in 2 Peter 1:20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. And I believe that the bible is God's word which consists of the 66 books in the bible. And either a person believes that the bible is God's word or they do not and if they do not then we have nothing to discuss since the foundation for what we believe is not the same. And it is the Holy Spirit who reveals to us the truth of God word. And having an opinion based on emotions only and having an opinion based on bible scriptures are two different things.

Now if someone recorded this young man's conversation that day n wrote it down n it was his friend n told others he had this conversation someone 50 years later would say "how can you say that you weren't there?" So because you weren't there it makes it invalid? That's why we have witnesses n historical documents and artifacts. It did happen!!!

Cliffe is asking the guy (hypothetically) "why shouldn't I steal that mans money so that I can have more pleasure". Well there are several reasons, but in essence, we know that if someone stole our money, we would not like it, so it's mutually beneficial to all of us as a society that we don't do to someone what we wouldn't want done to us. No God is required for us to work this out. Even our primate cousins know this. They have an understanding and have boundaries, if they step out of line, they are punished by the older primates.

I hope these young folks listen. Cliffe's midlife crisis example is spot on. I'm that corp ladder guy that got it wrong. Learn from me, don't make my mistakes and waste 20 or 30 years. Be open minded enough to listen to someone that is older and has the wisdom from life's mistakes. I'm one that only asked a few high level questions and got their purpose fundamentally wrong and paid the price....and it's not necessarily physical or material, it may be mental or emotional where only you know. But there is a price. Put effort into finding your true purpose when you are young.....life will tend to go much better not only for you but others around you. 🙏
