Svalbard in the Arctic Circle is estimated to be heating at six times the global average.
The consensus is that the temperature in Svalbard has jumped 4C in the past 50 years.
Since the 1980s, the amount of summer sea ice has halved and some scientists fear it will be gone altogether by 2035.
Wildlife and human life are now in a struggle to survive.

This reminds me of the recent movie "Don't Look Up" with Leo where all people ignored the evidence of a comet coming into collision to Earth, and is not until the last moment, when nothing can be done, when we try to look for solutions. Sad to say but this is also everyone's individual life, is not until the last moment that we try to make a change, out of desperation, because our own individuality is at risk. I'm so sorry for future generations, but also marvelled at how our end is going to be.

As a prime example, the BBC keep telling us to be worried about climate change destroying the planet, but have no problem antagnozing Russia in to starting a nuclear war, I dont see them calling for peace talks even ONCE! Yet almost every day they have some report about climate change for some random weather event around the world.

@@saltyweasel4657 This was not the issue I was addressing. Your claim was that humanity was "willingly and knowingly exterminating itself". Data proves that life for humanity has never been safer, healthier or more prosperous than at any time in history. This trend has remained uninterrupted. Humans are indeed causing mass extinction, but it has nothing to do with climate change. This, along with almost every single threat facing humanity is because of over population. Extinction today is caused by poaching, overfishing and plant and animal habitat destruction due to human encroachment. We need to embrace the influences that bring population levels down. Like wealth generation, the empowerment of women, education, access to family planning and birth control. Wealthy people and wealthy nations have smaller families. Lifting people out of poverty instead of blathering on about climate change will mitigate suffering far more than a warming planet could ever induce. Cheers.

@@anthonymorris5084 I respect what you are saying I just see it a little bit differently. When you look at how many people have the knowledge of something being bad and still continue doing so shows my point. Look at the amount of people smoking for example, I am one of them and at the same time I realize itself destructive. Most people know sugar in high amounts is bad, but they still overeat because whatever reason causes them to. People know their government is full of shit, but they still keep voting for the same Muppets. The problem is that politicians and mega cooperation's have so much power that even if we wanted to change it would be close to impossible.

@@saltyweasel4657 Agreed, but there is a difference between you making choices about yourself, and an authoritarian movement demanding I adopt their values and live the way they say. This mantra is followed by threats if I don't submit. There is also no difference between demanding the end of fossil fuels by embracing the exact same mentality as an anti vaccer who cites every single negative they can think of including embellishment and outright lies, while ignoring the incalculable benefits of vaccinations. So goes the anti fossil fuel movement who behaves like fossil fuels are synonymous with cancer and must be irradicated. Except that cancer has no redeeming value while, like vaccinations, fossil fuels have incalculable benefits for humanity. In fact, today, we can't live without them. Corporations can only profit by producing goods and services that humanity wants, needs and demands. Failure to do this and the corporation garners no profit. Ultimately it is the consumer who has the power and can embrace the ideals of competition as well. Corporations may have too much influence on government, but it sounds like you're taking a purely American perspective. The entire Western world embraces the corporate entity and concept. For the most part they function and serve humanity well, including providing billions of jobs. Cheers.

@@ricktd6891 AGW is not a ‘hypothesis’. It’s a scientific theory. About which greater than 99% of climate scientists are agreed. Scientifically speaking - it’s less controversial than heliocentric theory and as generally accepted as plate tectonics theory and evolution. If you knew anything about science you would know that science is not in the business to ‘prove’ things. For instance heliocentricism is not ‘proven’. It is a theory based upon gathered facts, evidence, observation and testing. So if I was to ask for you to scientifically ‘prove’ heliocentricism, you would be unable to do it because that would be unscientific. You are on better ground when asking if I know how to “disprove global warming”. If by this you mean show that the theory is falsifiable? That would at least be an intelligent question. And it is very easy to falsify the theory of global warming by greenhouse gasses. If there would be an unexplained temperature drop of one degree and it would stay there for a decade, the theory is completely dead. If the same thing happens to the ocean heat content, the theory is dead within a year. Additionally, I’d recommend you read “Human and natural influences on the changing thermal structure of the atmosphere” (Benjamin D. Santer, Jeffrey F. Painter, Céline Bonfils, and Frank J. Wentz)

As regards the melting of Arctic Ice, the records nearly always seem to start in 1979. Strange that, considering it was a year of record extent for Arctic Ice. Even so, data from NOAA (2022) show winter (March) ice coverage has hardly changed since '79, and that the summer (September) coverage trend had stopped declining since 2007. How inconvenient! Didn't someone predict in 2007 Arctic ice free by 2010, or 2015, or 2013, or in 5 years? Or was it in 2008 the Arctic ice sheet would melt away. Also predicted in 2008 North Pole ice free in ... 2008 ... or in 10 years. 2009 prediction: Arctic ice free in 2014. 2012 prediction: snow will be gone by 2020. And 2013 star prediction: Methane catastrophe in 2 years because of ice free Arctic. 2018 prediction: zero chance of permanent ice in Arctic by 2022. It's still there, and it's stopped shrinking. If you consider global sea ice cover, it was basically flat from 1981 to 2008, rose until 2010, stayed level until 2015, dropped until 2018, and then rebounded almost all the way back to the 1990-2000 average. Nobody predicted theses changes, nor can they explain them. The changes have no relationship to the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere. The climate crisis/emergency/apocalypse is make-believe. Multiyear ice is an unproductive habitat as far as marine organisms are concerned: first year (seasonal) ice over continental shelves is the most productive and this is where the vast majority of polar bears, seals, fish, whales, and sea birds are found. Therefore the decline of extremely thick multiyear ice (>4 years old) could be seen as an unconcerning development with regards to the wildlife in the region, especially since 2-3 year old ice that can be used as a resting/hunting platform for seals and polar bears hasn't declined in summer since 2007. In fact, biologically, the Arctic is in good shape with all its regions showing a positive trend in primary productivity over an extended period (2003-2022). This has resulted in more food for seals, walruses, bowhead whales and polar bears, which are hence maintaining or expanding their populations. There's no "death spiral" in the region as some people reported. In fact, there is, as I say, no evidence of any crisis/emergency. That is silly nonsense designed to scare people.

One of the key ways that we have proven that the warming is from the greenhouse effect (carbon emissions), and not changes in the sun is that they warming we have seen is far greater nearer the poles, and at night - where retained heat is more important to temperature than direct sunlight. That is also why we have seen such dramatic increase in farmland and greening in cold regions, with no loss of green land to deserts near the equator (as daytime temps near the equator have basically not risen at all) - at least everywhere that humans have not overgrazed or deforested the lands.

During 2011-2018, the world spent US$3.6 trillion on climate change projects - 55% of which was spent on solar and wind projects. Despite this wind and solar energy still produced only 3% of world energy consumption in the year 2018. Not only are they expensive and ineffective, the review found that these projects sometimes contribute to problems they were designed to solve. Both wind and solar farms are themselves causing local climate change. And, they have a devastating effect on biodiversity

That’s a lie. Scientists have said every glaciers. Iceland will expand this year. It appears that Iceland won’t have to be renamed Tepidlandia anytime soon after all. According to researchers at the University of Iceland, each of the country’s glaciers will expand this year for the first time in the past 25 years. As reported in Electroverse, the Hofsjökull, Langjökull, Mýrdalsjökull, and Vatnajökull glaciers have expanded over the last twelve months, from autumn to autumn, "With Mýrdalsjökull showing a really significant addition of ice this year." These are the largest glaciers in Iceland: Hofsjökull is third largest after Vatnajökull and Langjökull, while Mýrdalsjökull is the country’s fourth largest ice cap. The research study project manager, Finnur Pálsson, observed that he regarded the reversal to be "unusual." He noted that Langjökull had been losing around one and a half meters of ice per year for the past 20 years, "but in the last few years he has been close to zero, that is, he has neither expanded nor diminished. And that applies to this year, both for Vatnajökull and Langjökull as well." So why is this happening? Careful to avoid a politically-incorrect narrative contradicting “global warming” mantra, Pálsson simply observed, "It is a fact that it has been colder the last few years. And there was more snowfall in August on the upper part of Langjökull, which is very unusual."

Geologic evidence and proxy data suggest that the earth has been significantly warmer and has had higher CO2 levels in the past, and all sorts of life thrived. This, of course, was before the global flood a few thousand years ago which radically changed the geography and climate of the planet. But there is also evidence to suggest parts of the earth were warmer after the flood than they are today. In fact, historical records indicate there were several warm periods including the medieval warm period (MWP) between AD 300 and 1900 in which people were able to farm in Greenland-an area currently covered in ice. Warmer temperatures can extend growing seasons, which allows for increased agricultural production. Cooler temperatures can cripple agricultural production as evidenced by the “little ice age” that occurred in 1400 shortly after the MWP. During the “little ice age,” the Thames River in London froze over and much of Britain experienced food shortages.

What's gonna be really sad is when your kids cannot afford to be warm and eat food and have to be constatntly shouted at to go and fetch water from a community well cause, no more running tap water and then you tell them stories about those horrible smokey machines that used to be called cars, as you take them to school on your horse driven cart....... That will be sad...

@@anthonymorris5084 Your statement about the science is so far from factual that you are only projecting. You are lost in political ideology and media/social media. You’re not even talking about the science. From a dataset of 88125 climate-related papers published since 2012 it is concluded with high statistical confidence that the scientific consensus on human-caused contemporary climate change-expressed as a proportion of the total publications- _exceeds 99% in the peer reviewed scientific literature_ . This issue has been comprehensively settled, and the reality of ACC is no more in contention among scientists than is plate tectonics or evolution.
