Gotta love how the answer is ( All of us need to change) not the laws allowing emissions from large corporations... Or how about Deciding not to live on the coast or Tornado Alley... Can't expect to get insurance coverage.. Or get federal aid because you chose to live in a High risk area... I can't walk into traffic then sue whoever hits me...

I had never heard of "Heat Officers" before, an actual city position. This just tells me more about our Finale. Sorry, so sorry but we waited to long, because if it really is CO2 that is causing the warming, its to late for us because the CO2 that is in the atmosphere cannot be reduced for DECADES, its there permanently as far as todays population is concerned. CO2 does not dissipate for at least 30 years,,,and we are putting much more in the air now than we ever had.

My training was senior climate scientist is to tell the population that planet Earth is sliding into another greenhouse gas mass extinction event. This time it's not caused by volcanic CO2 emissions which killed off between 60 to 90 percent of all life on Earth create it this time it's human activity that's releasing upwards of 34 billion tons of carbon dioxide per year, plus increasing methane. The destabilization of the planet occurred how about 200 years ago when the glaciers started to recede if humans did not exist Glacier Retreat would never occur. Humans broke the climate cycle and the planet is heading into a Hothouse Earth condition with accelerating frequency of global flooding events, heat waves that are often deadly, droughts and if it continues eventual Global famine

True, it's hotter in the summer than other seasons, but that's not what this is about. It's about having extreme heat and extreme weather in higher frequency, and higher intensity and these changes are irreversible. The extreme changes to our weather puts huge stress on our food production, on water supplies, and our emergency relief management. We are setting records for the amount and size of the disasters we need to address. This will itself result in rising property insurance costs, disaster relieve outlays that could exacerbate inflation and government budgets being balanced.

And your point would be? Are you trying to claim that human-driven climate change is not a thing? The science on climate change is well established and all you need to do is go outside to see it. I live in the northeast and the heat, and extreme weather (including tornadoes), is very noticeable from what it was like just 20 or 30 years ago. I was riding my bicycle across Florida in Jan/Feb and the amount of rain that dropped while I was there, according to the locals, was extreme - lots of flooding especially up around the panhandle - at a time that would normally be drier. One local said he had lived there since 1980 and had never seen anything like it. In May, I was back in Miami and the ocean water was like bath water, in the mid- to upper 80's (F). Corals are dying all around Florida due to the hot water. The ocean ecosystems cannot adapt quickly to the higher temperatures and this, in turn, impacts our seafood supply. We are taking enormous risks by continuing the GHG emissions / pollution.

As a biologist, I believe this is how it's going to go down: We will have a global foodshortage by the end of the year, the civilization will collapse in 2 to 3 years (net zero is reached;)), followed by a long time of turmoil and fight for surival, humans will radiate into multiple new human subspecies, because selection pressure is really high. However, I'm sorry to tell you there is no guarantee, humans will survive at all. There are many possible scenarios

I was a Broward Mayor and the leader of an Environmental group for 10 years . I was invited to be a member of one of the first Resilience Comm in Broward made up of about 15 PHDS and a few politicians mainly concerned about Port Everglades most of these PHDS were fairly young even though they were some of the best from the State,County and Federal govt! ! I had probably 40 years experience in Env issues in Broward . I! Our family came to Broward in the 50"s and I was the only member to see the Env Impacts over this period ! I have a wall full of awards but althogh we saved thousands of acres o coastalf wetlands from being turned into condos ,only the lower land values at the time allowed this to happen ! Unless some genius comes up with a form of Geoengineering on a huge scale I would have tp place myself in the large DOOMER camp of scientists and our current candidates for President is NOT encouraging !

I don't have any words or degrees in environmental science but as a self-taught 1st or 2nd year atmospheric physics student, I have a monitoring Global Land and Sea surface temperatures thanks to remote satellites. I consult with senior climate scientists, basically planet Earth is plunging into another hot house greenhouse gas mass extinction event. All of the charts that I have all the documents all the studies point to a planet that is heading in that direction. Global annual CO2 emissions continue to rise unabated add a rate that is significantly faster then CO2 emissions prior to the start of the Industrial Revolution. Before the start of the Industrial Revolution CO2 levels are rising at one part per million every 1,000 years carried in the 2020s, CO2 levels are rising at one part per million every 18 months period of methane levels are also on the rise. But the big news story started 18 months ago when Global sulfur dioxide levels were dropping in the atmosphere. They're dropping based on the reduction of global burning of fossil fuels but specifically the international Maritime organization had mandated that all Container shipping companies worldwide or at least within their jurisdiction switch from a bunker crew that contains 4.5% sulfur to a sulfur content. The properties of sulfur dioxide, have some outstanding solar reflectivity values. So basically sulfur dioxide is settling out of the atmosphere and allowing more thermal radiation from the Sun restart the world's oceans and land and this has increased the global average temperatures much much faster then has been recorded over the last 40 years

U understand that we are exactly 50 years too late to come up with the change. Now all we can do is try to adapt. Because the whole world was laughing when first warnings came out 50 years ago. True we all die in the end. But while we are alive what kind of quality of life do you want? Do you want to sit in your home day and night and watch the birds fall out of the trees from extreme heat? And watch the trees wither and die? The river across the street lose its water from evaporation? Or do you want to be able to go outside and hear the birds singing? Walk under the shade of a tree and feel the coolness under its shade? Or hear the trickle of water as it moves around the rocks in a stream? That's the difference between a good life and a life that is poor quality. We have to choose for the generations that are coming up after us. Your children, your grandchildren will want to know how you helped solve the problem of climate change. They will want to know how you escaped that extreme heat. They will look up at you with there big dark eyes and curious faces waiting to hear your stories. Grandpa ,tell us, tell us.

Well guess what climate change that started in 1850. That was the time when the intro glacial Ice Age maximum should have started to extend the arctic ice sheets because planet Earth was now sliding into an ice age but it would take another 10,000 years before a full Ice Age would occur Carrie you have to understand that Earth has had three greenhouse gas mass extinction events. The last one was 55 million years ago. The CO2 emission duration was 20,000 years. The rate of emissions was 2 GB per y e a r. Humans are releasing 37 billion tons of carbon dioxide per year. So the lower latitudes of Earth in other words between the Equator and the 30th degree latitude are experiencing the most brutal heat waves, flooding events, droughts and now famine will expand Global grain crops are decreasing starting an India and possibly spreading to other countries
