Reis and Cory from Ri3D Cranberry Alarm test and demo their 2 stage ‪@thethriftybot5299‬ climbers on their Crescendo Robot. You'll get to see the climber from a few positions on the chain, how the controls work and a demo of the robot in action from both sides of the robot!

2:14 you can ensure you catch the chain more effectively even when bouncing by extending to full height and driving a bit further into the chain. Caveat being that you’ll also have to have your gyros back the robot up *before* your wheels are at a point where you have no traction. Automating this entire routine using apriltags distance sensing would make it very repeatable.

6:04 I thought a climb would only count if the robot hangs for 5 seconds after timer ends can someone tell me the section that says otherwise?

If i am not wrong in 6.5 it states "assessment of STAGE points is made 5 seconds after the ARENA timer displays 0:00 following TELEOP, or when all ROBOTS have come to rest following the conclusion of the MATCH, whichever happens first." So i think this means that if all robots are no longer moving the second the timer hits 0 then the climb will count if u fall of 1 second after the timer is at 0

I believe you are correct. Rule 6.5 bullet point C explains that unless the robots are static at the end of the match, the points are evaluated 5 seconds after the match ends.

Confirming this is correct. A robot that is actively dropping at match end will have to stay suspended for 5 sec (it can drop down some during that time so long as it doesn't contact the floor before 5 sec) this is written the same as climb rules have been written in the past where this was the case and thus I would expect it to be judged the same way

Is there a video of yall adding the thrifty bot climber and the rest of the parts to the robot? Planning to replicate on the everybot with single climber in place of everybot climber. trying to figure out all the parts needed and how to attach to everybot. Everybot using NEO with 60:1 gearbox but did you say NEO with 12:1 CIM Sport gearbox on MaxPlanentary with a 10:1? Yall Explain very well.

Do you guys have other ways to hang if other robots decide to take the position? I know this is early stage of testing but you mainly go for middle is this video.

The TTB telescoping tubes are the only climbing mechanism on the bot. The height of them was constrained by the height which we set as our robot maximum (26 in). If one wanted, they could make the telescoping tubes longer (more than 10.5 in) and climb further to the sides. - Cory from CA

What modifications did they do on the thrifty bot climbers , and how complex to pull that off was it

The TTB telescoping tube kits are entirely stock here. We just selected the length of the aluminum tubes (10.5 in) and created motor mounts for the sport planetary gearboxes out of some TTB brackets. - Cory from CA

why do telescoping when a 1 stage elevator works way better. you could make it out of either tslot slides (80/20) or just simply use a pneumatic cylinder

what problem do you see with telescoping? if they can prove it works on the sides and not just the middle then I don't see a need for an elevator.

you cant pull up as high and they are expensive. Even if you already own one you have to cut it so short its likely the last time you will be able to use it. If you notice most ri3D teams tend to drop down if they dont power the motor. At the end of the match this isnt a big deal if you are several inches/ 1ft off the ground but is if you are only a couple. It is also not possible or practical to do the trap with a telescoping arm unless you make it pivot(which may still not be possible) @@henryp123

We'll leave it up to all y'all to figure out the best design, but for us this was the easiest/fastest way with our robot's specific space constraints to get the robot off the ground. - Cory from CA

how does andymark climber work actually

These are actually "Thrifty Telescoping Tube Kits" from the Thrifty Bot. There are constant force springs which spring the telescoping tubes up, and then there is a motor with a winch on the bottom. - Cory from CA
