The boys back at it. Rope swings, runouts, and a cheeky free solo on the last pitch? We love to see it.

Isn't it great that El Cap has went from four day mountaineering slogs to a playground for all types of climbing? Whether it's running up it in a afternoon or five days with porta-ledges and working out 5.13 techno-pitches. All with almost no impact, all with human power, and the price of admission is getting fit enough to do it. At 58, yours and Tyler's videos help to keep my stoke up to train and get out on Tahquitz a couple times a week. I am glad you guys are out there doing it and hope you will keep the videos coming! I don't think there is a better way to keep in shape, have great experiences, and still be so low impact on our world.

@@GravityLabz 4 days or so. First night we only got to p3. 2nd day we bivyed at the Pillar of Dispair. 3rd day we bivyed at some big ledge after the Grand Traverse. 4th was Thanksgiving Ledge. Most memorable moment of the adventure was reaching a ledge where we could just lay down

I just came across your videos recently.. been watching climbing videos for 10+ years but this hits different. I've never seen aid climbing this close up before. The techniques, the anchors, the gear in situ... the insane looking run-outs as well... absolutely stunning video for me as a sport climber. Keep up the great work 👍

do you use a tagline for gear when you short fix?

Wait, what would have happened if the leader fell before you put him on belay?
@GravityLabz2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. Depending where he fell. Could have fallen like 3ft, could have fallen 40ft. An ambiguous answer but the systems really make it vary greatly

When the bottom guy is climbing up the rope, does the top guy have just a traction device to catch a fall?
@GravityLabz2 жыл бұрын
Often times he does. We tend to use a revo. However, sometimes we just leave a moderate loop of slack instead of using a device

I'm confused. You each jumar up half the mountain purely for speed?

Yes. The goal is to move as quickly as possible. And in regular aid climbing the follower always jumars. This case we do it simultaneously while the other leads

Haha yes. If it isn’t labeled, it is fair game. People tend to leave water when they have to much. We are thirsty and only bring enough water to get to the top of the climb with a bit of thirst. It’s nice to get a couple extra gulps in so we get to the top better hydrated
