A lot of people are calling for more outdoor lead videos but the last time he posted one on his main channel, after walking across a frozen lake & knocking icicles off the route, it's only got 170k views. That was in Feb 2021. If we want him to post these videos, then people need to actually watch them

I wish people understood how elite Magnus is. He said that he doesn’t even train on lead anymore. He rarely does it. He can still send 8a+ off the couch with relative ease… insane

Magnus in his prime was such a beast. For some time he was one of just a handful of people to ever have onsighted 8c+ or higher.
@slbaaron2 ай бұрын
Magnus has said that his body type might've suited better to bouldering than lead, only that when he was youth there's no bouldering competition so he can only do lead and that's the one he stuck to, and no one knows if he could've done more if he started and main'd bouldering instead. I honestly kind of disagree. No matter in-door or out-door, the absolute top level bouldering has became less about explosive *raw* strength but either extremely technical coordination or extreme finger tip level crimp strength to body weight ratio. I honestly don't think Magnus would be the first V17 boulderer or a regular world cup podium placer. Instead, his mixture of explosiveness, endurance (or endurance in explosiveness if you will) and "intuition" in climbing suits much better for top level lead climbing. Like Magnus said, he probably didn't have the most optimal training back then and had some mental game aspects that could've improved, yet he was already crazy good for his days. I truly believe he had even higher potentials in lead.

The videography and editing of this was fantastic. Magnus, always a pleasure to watch any of your videos. You're without a doubt my favorite content creator on youtube. Years ago I was super depressed, very injured and had a big falling out with a huge group of my friends all at the start of Covid. I had kind of given up on a lot of things but I remember one small video you made about going to your friend's barn home climbing wall and setting and climbing some routes with them, the video got me psyched to try and regain my strength. It's been about four years now but I'm almost completely recovered from my injury and have been climbing consistently again. I know you'll probably never see this message but I genuinely want to thank you for inspiring a community the way you have. You're the best, man!

I think it's an youtube algorithm thing. I forget if Magnus mentioned it in a previous video or some podcast I watched, but keeping up with algorithm changes is usually why videos are kept at a certain length both to maximize views and get the ad revenue.

Guessing Alex was their for change and this was beginning of Sept. Must be a busier crowd than when you first bolted your orignal route at Hanshelleren. If you read this Magnus how does it feel climbing there now compared to when you and Andrada first started bolting, mad to think at that point the main cave hadn't been touched apart from the sidewalls. Must be weird how it's now a hangout each summer for the world's elite to come and test themselves along with the rest, has it got too busy yet on the easier routes? Safe travels, safe pitches, great vlog, hope you enjoyed being back on the rock. Greetings from the Alps/UK.
