Climbing helped me do my first muscle-up! Since strong core is key, the peter pans drill helped a lot (the variation where each individual hand movement is preceded by cutting feet). Much more fun than regular training as well. However, one looks like a total beginner, cutting feet every few seconds.

Peter Pans are a fantastic ab workout and foot precision drill - it’s one of my favorites :) thanks for sharing!

I love your videos, they are so inclusive. I've been climbing consistently 3 months and your videos are so good for a beginner like me. Also, I only ever did one pull up, and I was drunk, and it hurt for days after. But it made me realise so much of it is mental. I'm encouraged to try do it the proper way!

Nice drill for sure! And because it's done while climbing, it doesn't feel like "training".

35M. I did 2 months of weight-lifting last fall. Did plenty of band-assisted pullups, but didn't feel especially close to a full pullup. After climbing twice per week this winter, I can finally do one. I felt sore from weight-lifting, but pull day was just once per week, so I think the consistency of hanging around and climbing frequently has been better for developing my shoulder strength. Of course, doing two pull days to train up on pullups would probably have been even faster, but climbing is fun. I did it when I was weak; I'll keep doing it as I get stronger.

You can do assisted pull-ups on a dedicated machine as opposed to resistance bands! Start with as much weight as you need to get 6 reps done, then apply progressive overload every time you visit the gym. That way you should be able to do a full pull-up in no time! Also, your Latissimus Dorsi does most of the work in a pull-up, so training your back is very important.

I would recomend that ppl try just doing eccenteic pullups instead of the banded help. They put more stress on the muscle imo since they force you to focus on the effort of the muscle and you can take a heavier load when doing eccentrics vs concentric. You can do more of them too. :)

No mention of body weight? For some losing weight would be more important than gaining muscle. Do both ideally
