That's the approximate success rate for the 5-day itinerary, which is very aggressive. The extra day to acclimatize, like she did, approximately doubles the success rate. Package costs are all over the place depending on the guide company and their offerings. I'm going on this route next week, also the 6-day, and most of the cost highlights for my trip are as follows: Guide package: $2,200 Gratuities: $250-300 Visa: $100 Insurance: $100+ (required) Airfare: $1,400 (from US) Rental equipment is extra, but I have all my own, so I can't speak to how much they charge for various items. The $2200 includes meals, lodging day before and day after the trek, lodging at the camps, transport from Kilimanjaro International Airport and gov fees for the climbing permit, etc. We booked a 7th day in case 1 more day would make the difference between success or failure. If we make it in 6, then we could use a down day before the long return journey. The Tanzanian visa is $50 for all countries except the US, but if you're from the US, then they double it.
