I’ve been obsessed with watching these videos of Mount Kilimanjaro and think I’ve watched them all, this one is by far the best one out there. He goes into detail about the place, culture ...he respects the land and the people there...he respects and appreciates the work the porters do ...and u can just tell he appreciates being there 👌👌🙌🙌🙌 love from Scotland 🏴🏴🏴

I climbed it in 2010 I noticed some porters were wearing trainers with the toes cut off and had very little cold weather gear. But they were amazing men. At the end they did a song and dance for us. It reduced me to tears. I gave them all my climbing clothing and boots. It was so life changing and a beautiful place. Great vid brought back some memories.

@r laze I don’t know of many deaths on the mountain, but I could be wrong. I think the low summit rate is just that people run out of supplies on the way up, or just get exhausted of the climbing.

Love this video! I climbed Kili on the Macheme route back in November of 2015. A couple things I'd like to add to your tips: -Kili can be climbed in the rainy season. Yes, it's wet but if you love the rain you'll be right at home. The rain invigorates you. You're not hot or sweaty. Best of all there's no crowds in the rainy season. You'll literally have the whole mountain to yourself! -Book with a company that belongs to the Kilimanjaro Porters Association. This way you'll know the porters are well paid and well treated. -Bring a treat along for the hike. Something you're into and will enjoy. The two other trekkers with me brought hot chocolate and energy bars. I brought hot sauce with me. Being up in high altitude makes eating difficult. The hot sauce ensured I ate well and kept my calorie intake up. -Kili gets cold at night. Bring a water bottle and ask the camp cook to fill it with hot water. I kept the water bottle under my sleeping bag like a teddy bear. It helped keep me warm at night. -Walking poles make a huge difference!

I summited Kili in June of 2008. It was always my #1 item on my bucket list. I will never forget the last day's 3,500 foot climb from Barafu Camp to Uhura Peak. Encountered heavy snow half way up that June 6th day, but getting to the summit and sleeping that night at Crater Camp (500 feet below the summit) is something I will never forget.
Very good video.Thanks.. Kilimanjaro : My dreams Mountain.

I don’t think anyone is saying dude is racist, lol. It’s totally something I used to do too, but folks pointed it out to me that a lot of non-African folks take a Eurocentric view when talking about the feats of the European explorers. I am glad someone pointed it out to me, because you can still mention the Europeans that climbed and travelled to various places in Africa, Asia and the americas, but put it in context, “dude was the first non-African to climb so-n-so mountain and dude made it more popular with other non-African folks, helping to developer the tourist industry in the area.” More accurate and more interesting history lesson.
