Definitely, but but but on the way up Tristan was like (waving with his hands) 'I will going this way to the left then climb up to the ridge ...' and the camera showed pit black, and a few seconds later a vertical cliff that drop straight down to nowhere... Lol. but I love it! Thanks for taking us along. 👍👏👏👏 WOW!

I gotta tell ya that the ridge walk is what puckered me right up. Walking a narrow ledge with 1000s of feet down either side with gusty winds was enough for me to cry "Uncle"! The up close views of those ice covered outcrops leading to the summit were superb.

The shadow of Mt Hood! There are no words! You are mighty brave and so lucky as well! Things can go wrong, even for the most experienced of climbers. And to not have anyone there at all to help you if something did go awry. Especially in the dark! The wow factor of this video is off the charts!

Great video. I have climbed Hood 4 times and have started at 2am usually. The snow is still firm and sunrise comes on the way up resulting in more views and I think safer route finding. I know how great it feels to have the summit to yourself. My son and I had that on Whitney. Most folks bring ropes , ice axe, crampons, and others. I saw that a 63 year old slipped and died the same month you climbed this year. Falling into Devils Kitchen. So have fun but take Mt. Hoods risks seriously and go prepared.

I married a Portlander with deep roots in the area, and he told me tales of a relative's boyfriend disappearing into the fumarole. He had climbed it as a new Reed College student, a ritual for incoming freshmen. Mt. Hood (Wy'east) looks far more friendly than she is, and climbing her in the dark is the only safe way to do so, counterintuitively. Great vlog!

OK, I watched this one from start to finish, without skipping ahead, at all. That is my highest praise. I climbed Hood in May 1968. I am always surprised by how much it has changed. It is far harder, now. The Pearly Gates were largely full of snow, back then. We did rope up at the Hogsback, however. Great climb; great video.

Mt Hood is indeed unpredictable. When everything goes perfectly, it isn’t a hard summit. But, when something is dicey, it is deadly.

Climbing a vertical mile in four hours up to 11,000ft in the dark in freezing weather over glacier snow by yourself. Extremely extremely dangerous! I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, you are the King of the Hill.

Maybe it's careful video editing, but I don't think I've ever seen you break a sweat or gasp for air at elevation on any of your adventures. Awesome video! I stayed one night at Timberline Lodge in mid/late June years ago and heard there were several groups going to the top the next morning. Figured I could just start an hour or two later and move much faster alone. Then see were they were going on the difficult parts. I was thruhiking the PCT that year and acclimated to height, in excellent shape and used to hiking on snow, but I had only sneakers and an ice axe (not even micro spikes) so decided against it. Regretted it (a bit) at the time, but after seeing this video it looks like a good decision.

Having lived most of my time in Central Washington and for 5 years on the Central Oregon Coast ... I have seen Mt. Hood many times from many angles ... from the highways, that is. Your camera tour of your climb has given me a whole new perception of just how big and majestic Mt. Hood really is. Climbing along those crests in dark ... prompts me to wonder if you were ever in a traveling circus as a high-wire performer! ( Just kidding, but Wow...! )

Good memories are being created for your recliner years. In the Cascades my best memories are trips with my grandpa and dad in the 3 sisters wilderness. I've also been on Adam's, Hood and Shasta. My Hood story involved,,,being 17 and being ill prepared and ill equipped,,,mainly because of the invincibility that is a common belief at 17,, yet somehow,,my best buddy and I summited. 40 plus years later the thought of what we stupidly did makes me shiver in fear. I think weed was somehow involved too. Thanks.. brought back some interesting memories. One of my major regrets was a fail on Rainier. Sat 2 days at camp Muir in a storm and gave up and went home. Failed on Shasta too,,turned back at around 12,500 in a lightning storm,,or more aptly,,because of a lightning storm. The other time lightning won was on the San Francisco peaks out of Flag.

Thanks for the video! I climbed the mountain in 1984 in April and it was overcast the whole way. There was really no view from the top. I was nauseated from the sulphur, lack of sleep and exertion. I was very glad to be off the mountain. Since then I have skied mt. Hood hundreds of times, starting up on the glacier at Mt. Hood Meadows. It is an incredibly beautiful mountain, especially if you have visibility and are on skis.
