cant believe I ve missed this video all this time. . well done mate its a brilliant video diary full of breath taking shots. You have excelled yourself on this one. My fave bit is the paraglider..it really gives a sense of the height and wilderness. And what a great route you took... no wonder you were a spent force at the end.

Out of my videos on the four peaks, this was the hardest one; I took a pretty tough route up and it really drained me. This is the first of the four peaks I did, and on Snowdon and Ben Nevis I made sure I went via a more direct route!

Your videos are the best videos from KZbin and I mean it so. The are harmless and you are just explain what we can see. I hope you are well, greetings from Berlin.

Very helpful video for us thank you. We are planning on this trip in June in honour of my late husband who loved it here. I can see we need to get a bit more training in before the walk.

It took me quite a few hours to do this hike because I took a pretty long route to the top and back. You can do a much more direct route up from Wasdale. I don't think there were any signs along the way, you'll need to be able to read a map if you're taking one of the alternate routes up

Terrific vid Daniel. In >25 years of visits it'd never occurred to approach via Oxendale, interesting choice! Can I recommend a similarly unusual figure-eight route should you feel need to return? Whilst not strictly my all time fave (Grains Gill/Corridor Route round from Seathwaite), this circuit from Wasdale takes in many of the massif's best features: 1. Ascend Sca Fell via Piers Gill/Lingmell Col/Lord's Rake/West Wall Traverse. 2. Descend/traverse across to Pen (great viewpoint) on Eskdale side via Foxes Tarn. 3. Ascend Scafell Pike via Little Narrowcove/Chambers Crag scree shoot (as opposed to Broad Crag Col). 4. Descend via Pulpit Rock/Lingmell Col/Lingmell. John, Staffs.

No, it's definitely Angle Tarn, it's on the path back down into Great Langdale. It sits just below Esk Pike
@TheQ-Continuum

I have also summited Scafell Pike. Each time from a different route. In my opinion the walk from Langdales is the longest and toughest route. My favourite has got to be the corridor route, I find it the most interesting and varied path to the summit. But we all have our own favourite routes:

It's on the Ordnance Survey Explorer map OL6 and look at the grid NY 2407. If we're talking about the small tarn at 08:56 it really is called Angle Tarn. There is another Angle Tarn on the Coast to Coast, but it is not this one

great stuff! i plan on doing this myself at some point next year maybe, as back on a school trip 10 or so years ago, we were not allowed to do this thanks to foot and mouth... how long roughly did it take?

Yeah, a lot of water is drinkable. People often say to treat it with iodine (which I've never used) or a filter that can remove organic matter and bacteria from the water. Really you'd want to boil the water before downing it, but I've got into the habit of just drinking straight from the source if I don't see a dead sheep floating in it

Nice vid man. I want to do this, but i dont wanna get lost. I havnt done any map reading since army cadets which was age's ago.
@DanielStaniforth
@DanielStaniforth 8 жыл бұрын
+Poontang It's pretty easy to learn to map read, there are probably some KZbin videos to teach you. When I was 16 or 17 I walked from Sheffield to Scotland and I learned to map read as I went along, so you can definitely pick things up as you go. Because Scafell is a pretty barren mountain you should have a decent view of where you are and be able to pick out summits.

Sorry you had trouble understanding me. Was it the accent or the was there wind interference? It's a few years since I filmed this, but I think it was the Old Dungeon Ghyll pub I went in

Daniel Staniforth I'm afraid it was the accent, Daniel, but not to worry, we can't all speak like poncey southerners as I do! Loved the video and I've subscribed to see all the others you put up. I might follow a few of those routes this summer coming up.

+Daniel Staniforth I climbed Allen Crags ( 2575ft ) once with my father from Wasdale Head. I suppose mountains are great for those who like them but I don't like them! I watched your video to find out what Sca Fell Pike is, it is a brilliant video if you like mountains and mountain scenery but I don't! Cromer Church Tower and Nelson's Column are about my comfort level. I have been up Cromer Church Tower, that is high enough for me! I have a GREAT Dislike of Mountains!
