Awesome video! As you said, it is possible to get some very nice photos of the beach just a few minutes from the bottom of the track.

I've walked the base track around the Mount, the views from there were pretty good too.

I've walked up the mount about 3 times now and visited more than 10, and the view is stunning! I have even seen penguins, which you normally do if you go quite early, when it is still dark

Thanks Lizzie, we're glad you're enjoying our adventure :) In all truth it took us about 1h30min because we film and take so many pictures but you can be up top in about 30min without working out too much ;)

Late to the party. This is my hometown. Maoao is pronounced like mow-oh...it's not perfect but close enough 😊. I'm pleased you attempted and didn't just leave it as the mount
@NZPocketGuide4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips! We'll try to do better next time haha! What else do you recommend visitors to do there?

@@NZPocketGuide it's awesome enough you gave it a go 😁 I believe you had crossed off most of the things to do in the Tauranga area. There is a park called Te Puna Quarry. As per the name, it's an old quarry but some nice walking tracks and art installations around the park plus some nice views. Mt Hot Pools are always popular and the copehagen cones down the foot of the mount - best ice cream ever!! Used to get it all the time as a kid. Not quite Tauranga and you may have covered it - I'm still binging on your videos, but Karangahake Gorge is fantastic, it's only about a 1hr - 1.5hr or so drive out of Tauranga and heaps of trails along there for all ages and fitness levels right by the Waikato river 😊

high amount of house pricing and increasing poverty, does it bother you guys living in New Zealand?

Not sure this really affects us much when travelling in NZ, but that said, New Zealand offers some of the best living conditions in the world according to several survey, reports and experts, so must not be that bad ;)

@@NZPocketGuide i understand 80% of prison inmates are maori and they comprise only 15% of the population. Maori originally migrated from Hawaiiki (Taiwan) where they still live in primitive villages, not mixing well with the Chinese of Taiwan

Mount Maunganui is a suburb of Tauranga just like Papamoa yes it use to be a independent town from Tauranga but it's not anymore just like Bethlehem used to be its own town but is now part of tauranga the main cbd the mount and Papamoa were merged to make the whole of tauranga city
