Hi Corey, Shays are cool, they were made for logging company's and were required to climb and descend steep hills and mountains. Loggers were always tearing up their tracks and moving it, often with no ballast. The Shays were very forgiving and tended to stay on poorly laid track. We have lots of old ones out in California.

West Virginia is our Home State. Been to CASS SCENIC RR many times. Have rode everything several times but the new Climax. Shays have the best sounding Whistles and these Engineers know how to operate them.
