I love watching your channel I own my my tree company in nc i climb every day I had a heat stroke Monday in a tree and this week I’ve been taking it easy doing small bucket truck jobs and resting dident realize it took a while to get your strength and things back after a heat stroke .every night I come home I’ll watch your videos be safe out there and stay hydrated .tell the ground crew they need to pick up the slack hahaha 😂 💪🏻

Another tree guy! Oh man, that heat stroke day sounds like a nightmare. I've come close a few days out there lately but manage to find some shade and a BIG JUG of ice water. Still, on those hot days I don't usually work much past 2pm. Too dang soaked and exhausted. I find myself wishing more work came in during those winter months haha ... good hearing from ya buddy. Stay safe and I hope that business THRIVES!!

Good job, no issues and enough space to get it down safely. I climbed trees in a more urban area and we typically had hazards and obstacles to deal with. We would have had to lower most of that tree. Time consuming and much more work. We worked in the central North Carolina area and summers were pretty rough. I didn’t like to work in sweat soaked shirts so I would change to a fresh shirt several times a day. Also the truck stayed in better condition without the super wet clothes.

Great Job Spencer! I’m always amazed at how much a little ratchet strap can impact a co-dominant stem-I use them for pre-tensioning cable installs all the time. Also, I enjoyed learning about your break cut technique. I’m usually making break cuts in hardwoods from a bucket, and have the leverage advantage of pushing from the very top. I would not have thought to leave that little offset with a climbing break cut-that’s some confident cutting!
@metaspencer5 ай бұрын
that trick of yours for pretensioning cables makes good sense ... nice to get everything snug and then tension the cable. good thinking!
@timeorspace5 ай бұрын
The other part of that trick is using a cable clamp (pork chop) to save some traversing. Drill and set side 1, traverse, drill, anchor ratchet strap to cable clamp, tension, set side 2.

I know this wasn't a "how to video" but I did learn something haha to move the line down the first chunk before working the other side of the tree. Never thought of that! Saving a trip back up to retrieve it. Sometimes a do a long tail on a bowline or an alpine butterfly with quickie to pull it down but your way is simpler, and less tying and untying.

Yeah that tail is the way to go - good stuff man
