You've made a good start on cleaning those areas up. Hit them again in late summer to take care of any new growth

Overall, I’m actually kinda impressed. It may not have a ton of flow rate, but you were still able to do quite a bit of clearing in a relatively short time. Plus, I’m sure that unit is much cheaper than a regular skid steer. Great video!

yeah you bet ... it's been great around our property and on jobs ... I wouldn't try to level a forest with it of course, but it's terrific at reducing brush

@@metaspencer Just tried the mulcher a few moments ago, absolutely great machine, I am very pleased. Yes, the ASV is a great little machine and comfortable with A/C and heat but more awkward to get in or out of than your machine. Life is always a compromise.

The 'how you did it' was helpful. Appreciate the share. It is beneficial to watch how a process occurs. Here in Texas we do have a lot of berry vines, briars, all types of vines and under growth. Plus like you shared a lot of new small trees trying to reclaim the land. Mowing does discourage those small trees and vines. A good maintenance plan is important. So, thanks for sharing. Keep it safe, stay strong & healthy along with mingling wisdom and success. Prayers for family during the Christmas and New Year's holidays. ☝🙏🙌💪❤🎯💯%.

I've spend a bit of time in Texas and the region is pretty dang different from upstate NY where we are, but one thing never changes: always nice to keep the growth down in certain areas. I'm pretty happy with how this attachment has been running, though it (of course) has its limitations. Happy holidays!

so jealous. dont get to run mulching heads around here much. turns out the 'rocky mountains' isn't just a catchy name.. did get to bush hog about 15 acres of scrub oak down this summer which was fun but the mulching head is just so satisfying. leaves such a nice finish. love the fact that you're getting it done with the mini!

Like it mate. We had a guy with small excavater get in help on some big trees with space. One job had heaps of shrubs weeds just all in the way. Bro put the flailer on in 20 minutes was just mulch. So good. Thanks great vids have good xmas.

The machine is certainly effective for scrubby growth. You'll know already that blackthorn naturally speads by suckering growth, so when hedges containing it are left to their own devices, they will always widen - it's part of nature's progression towards forest as the climax vegetation where rainfall will support it. And will maybe know also that the eggs & caterpillars of hairstreak butterflies (several species) depend on 1 or 2yr regrowth. So if posession of an efficient new machine tempts you into tidying EVERYWHERE, entire populations can be wiped out at a stroke. Whereas if the flail/mulcher is used on a 2 or 3yr rotation it can always leave some 1 or 2yr regrowth present to maintain both utility of the land and its diversity of life.

Flow is speed, pressure does the work…. Of course there is more to the story like if the machine has a separate pump to run the implement or it’s sharing that 12.9gpm with the track motors and boom cylinders etc etc…. You can nerd out on that stuff till you start to question your own existence… but I’ve seen big mulcher’s struggle too…. You seemed to do just fine considering it’s a small machine with a small mulcher, it’s great for doing small jobs.
@metaspencer
@metaspencer 24 күн бұрын
Interesting! I like to nerd out, especially this time of year, so ya got me wondering where that flow is going? I'll try a little experiment today and see if the head may slow with strain on the tracks ... seems to make sense that the whole system would work together

I’m considering a brush cutter for my mini skid. What, if any applications do you think this mulching head would be better than a 42” brush cutter?
@metaspencer
@metaspencer 24 күн бұрын
I think it really depends on what you're gonna be cutting. I've got that kind of attachment on my tractors and it's great for high brush and the occassional small tree, but you can't lift them up in the same way as a mulcher. plus, the mulcher gets down lower and can focus on bushes and brush. you'll cover more ground with that 42" I'm thinking ... so really depends on what you want to be leveling and how low to the ground
@DevinJenkins-z1d
@DevinJenkins-z1d 24 күн бұрын
@ thanks. When you’re doing Tree Work, have you ever used this to mulch the brush instead of having to chip or haul it off?
