At the first part of the clinch. When your pulling them in close. Are you striking at the back of the head? Or are you forcing them to hit against your body? I ask because the angle of the video makes it a little hard to tell and I want to make sure I dont mess up the technique.

question coach. what if the man I was confronting is a kick boxer or muaythai fighter. cus I do kick boxing n muaythai and if I confront some with full intention to hurt me I will keep my distance. I will wait til he was in my kicking range. of course I don't want to have trouble. I will diescelate the situation. try to calm them down. that's my coach told me. but if he persists to charge toward me. then I have no choice. I will do what I'm trained for. cause fighting in the ring with same kick boxer there are rules. sparring etiquette.

Awesome combative …. I follow all your vids and as a current instructor in combatives and law enforcement officer in the US, I appreciate your knowledge sharing as I incorporate the techniques you share into my training and instruction. Thank you. Will this work on a taller (by a head) opponent?
@schoolofselfprotection3 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. This tactic is to stun and to have a split second of control so you can follow up with a knee to the groin for example. If the subject is much taller than you you could knee him in the groin first to bring the head forwArd and then clinch him like this. Follow up ASAP with other tools.
@vipatacticaltraining33242 жыл бұрын
Nice, everything, when it comes to touching the enemy has to hurt in some way Michiel. Even defensive techniques have to hurt. The clinch here has to hurt (Shock) otherwise the follow on techniques (Awe) are that much harder to implement and be as affective as they could be.

I can obviously see how that technique can be useful. But if you are going to respond to aggression to THAT level--it seems to me that you might as well slam your aggressor into a headbutt, in the same movement. Unless I am missing some mitigating issue, here?
@schoolofselfprotection3 жыл бұрын
This clinch buys you some time..if you are suprised the least you can do is be first with action and find momentary control..while you shock him..and follow up with whatever you want. Make sense? Also if somebody comes forward you want to create collision effect with this skillset..
@getmerolling3 жыл бұрын
@@schoolofselfprotection So I guess this situation means: - you're (both) too close to strike, for example the guy is shoving himself in your face or is pushing against you - or you are too surprised or stunned to strike (perhaps you can't see well or somebody smacked you in the nose or eyes), but you are still able to grab him - maybe you want to control or move the guy instead of strike him - perhaps you're starting to get tired and want a break from striking/kicking/running, so you want to clinch up like two boxers

I don't agree with that. From that position you can grab his left elbow and spin him into a rear naked choke. Something I've done hundreds of times in real situations. It's impossible to generalise as every situation is unique, but I struggle to think of a scenario where this would be my go to choice. I love channel, just don't agree with this one 👍🏼

Try your choke in a small toilet. Or a really crowded place where you don’t have space to move! If we train scenarios we are sure not to have space to move..so this would be an great option.
