Although I know the basic of double leg takedown and single leg takedown, lately my focus is on clinch takedowns. I found them more applicable and simpler in a self defense situation. They also require less athleticism. This video awesome. Thanks.

I feel almost exactly the same about all of that! Thanks for watching.

I once fractured my lower arm from taking someone down on asphalt. My closed hands and lower arms took all the weight from both my opponent and myself when we landed on the ground after my initial takedown from the clinch. Prefer the single or single to double since then.

you sure? i find the amount of steps and particulars to be less reliable in a more sporadic setting. not that they cant work.

Great demonstration! The hip toss is pretty easy and has the added benefit of giving you a few seconds head start if you need to run away.

Very nice takedowns to minimize damage to yourself! As my first judo Sensei said "The ground is a weapon"!

I love this guy’s channel. I have something to add though. If you want to prevent getting hit with a sagging headlock, uchi mata, or harai goshi, you must maintain inside control with your leg (we call it inside thigh contact in Greco). Best to also have your head on the same side as your underhook. I’ve wrestled for 30 years, did Judo, and am now doing BJJ (which is the coolest of all grappling I think). Look, if you body lock me and your leg isn’t on the inside of mine, you’re going for a ride. The best position for setting up the clinch, front headlock, hip throw, etc, etc, is having the underhook with your head and leg on the inside. Then your head, shoulder, and hip are all in alignment.

Great stuff! I noticed the side clinch position can result from a standing headlock position. just drilled the standing headlock defense last night.

I know obviously this isn’t a real fight, but I recognised the moves in this show are influenced by jiu jitsu so what would you call the clinch-trip used at 5:42 in this video?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqqok5qdfNOHZrc
