Hi, I have a Honour BSc in clinical psychology and I wanna study MSc in cognitive neuroscience and clinical neuropsychology. The question is before enrolling this master program what should I study (as a preparation) for instance; statistics, biochemistry...etc ? Thanks for your help

Only based on masters degree in clinical neuropsychology can I expect a job opportunity or do I need to do a doctoral degree (for practicing assessment n testing)??

Hi! Thank you for the helpful video. I have an honours bachelor degree in Biomedical Science and I will be starting a masters in Clinical Neuroscience this September. I am really interested in being a neuropsychologist but I cannot find much information on becoming one! Do you think I will need to do a PhD or will the masters in clinical neuroscience be sufficient? Thank you :)

Hello Shauna! Thank you for your lovely comment. I’m afraid you won’t be able to become a clinical neuropsychologist studying only clinical Neuroscience. Both neuroscience and neuropsychology are pretty close to each other but there’s still a difference in between the two of them, I have a video where I talk about it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHqxcpVorduojKc. One book that was super helpful to me when I was studying my bachelors was Neuroscience by Bear and colleagues. I believe this is the ISBN 978-0781760034. Good luck!!

I read on the website that the clinical intership is optinal. Does it mean that I have to study if I choose it or can integrate the clinical intership in the one year of the master program? It depends on each country, I suggest you check what are the options in Canada in order to become a Clinical Neuropsychologist. I am afraid I can't help you with that since I'm studying in Europe and things work differently over here. Good luck!!

From my understanding in order to become a neurologist you’ve to study medicine and then specialize in neurology. I don’t think there’s another route there.

Andrea C, there are some private clinics that do need neuropsychologists, but it sounds easier said than done. Try to do some research within your country and seek for opportunities. It also depends on the health system in your country and the law/regulations. Thanks for your interest!!

It depends whether you want to pursue a career focused in research or clinical. Id say for research, neuroscience is better and for clinical definitely psychology

I recommend you ask this question to someone that is in the field where you’re planing on studying, they will always know better than I do! What you are asking could be a good option but there might be something better out there that I’m not aware of! Sorry, I’m afraid I can’t give you a yes or no answer 😅

Mohit Vashisth it depends where you want to study. Also there’s not a perfect exact way of knowing it since everyone’s experience is a little bit different. Perhaps going to the webpage of the universities you’re interested in will give you more insight. Good luck!!!
