Clinical Ratting Action (A brilliant session)

What an epic little session this turned out to be! Sometimes it's the small places that can produce some of the best action. I really enjoy this tricky type of shooting. The rats were big and at times tricky to see. However the Pulsar thermal spotter once again proved to be an invaluable asset in this type of environment. Very calm for an FAC air rifle my .177 BSA FAC literally blows the back of the head of even rabbits at 30m. Try using a 940RI torch as it gives less glow in the end off the torch which is why the rats get so jumpy as they can see a red glow waving around.

Although it’s an FAC it’s turned down so that it’s barley more than standard when I’m shooting rats. I only ever increase the power when shooting squirrels or longer range rabbits.

I have seen numerous videos like this where the the shooter forgets to chamber a round and then miss the opportunity for the shot. All I will suggest is that the very first thing the shooter does is to immediately chamber the next round without getting to excited about the last shot.

Just love you guys! Fantastic shooting and great commentary! Boys and their toys! Yet, I’m a woman and I have some very expensive toys as well! I love to shoot guns. I do want an air gun though! I have some extremely powerful rifles as we shoot invasive wild hogs here in Texas. Those big ass hogs can take several .223 bullets and keep going. They are extremely tough and dangerous!However, those air guns are pretty sweet! We just purchased a beautiful Black Rain AR15 and it’s AWSOME!

Another good video, your correct re thermals it’s transformed my shooting. I use a Helion xp50 on the tee bar up on the truck roof for spotting, I wifi to a lenovo10 inch screen on the dash courtesy of stream vision app. Pulsar trail 2 on the 22.250 for foxing. It’s quite high up so you can see over most hedges as well, coffee on tv on sit back relax.

It makes me laugh looking back when I see the guns they used compared to the one I had as a boy about 60 + years ago called a Dianna model one. It was a screw in barrel but an old one then and the barrel sometimes flew off when you fired it. I doubt it would have killed a fly let alone a rat.

I see the hand pumps and divers tanks used to recharge the airguns, but what about the 12 volt compressors that plug into the power port of the car? Is that an option? I got one at the NAPA for $45

They can only pump up the around 80psi. The gun chargers to 3000!
