Kimberly Clark Sharp, MSW, LICSW, is the Author of “After the Light: The Spiritual Path to Purpose." Kimberly has been the founder of the Seattle International Association of Near-Death Studies, the world’s oldest support group for near-death experiencers, since 1982. Named one of the forty most influential people under the age of 40 in the Pacific Northwest in 1987.
"Death is nothing to fear-and life without fear can be lived to the fullest."
This is Kimberly Clark Sharp's message from her extraordinary experience during the time after her heart suddenly stopped beating and she lay on the sidewalk, not breathing and without a pulse. Swept into a peaceful, loving place of brilliant golden light and warm comfort, she saw the meaning of life and death for the first time.
After that, Kimberly, with hamster Toto at her side, left Kansas for Seattle-known as "the Emerald City"-to fulfill a destiny devoted to the service of others as foreseen at the end of her near-death experience. Guided by a new sensitivity to the presence of angels, demons, and other invisibilities, Kimberly attained a Master's degree in Social Work at the University of Washington. She began a career in medical social work that put her in direct contact with dying people-and people who almost died and came back.
The inspirational stories of these near-death experiences, as well as Kimberly's own life challenges in love, family life, and the diagnosis of breast cancer, form the core of this surprisingly funny page-turner of a book.
Please enjoy my conversation with Kimberly Clark Sharp.

She mentions that it is hard to love some people but that God loves everyone. When I think about people who I feel are a challenge to love, I tell myself that God knows them in ways I do not, that God knows their heart in ways I cannot. That I have to trust God and try to love everyone like God does.

I really like what Kimberly said about being nice to everyone. I have oserved people who are nasty to people who have challenges, such as homelessness, addictions and mental challenges. Absolutely agree. One disturbing factor I have found in my counselling work is that too many people in the administrative, law-enforcement and so-called human 'support' organisations have little empathy, training or even plain understanding that they too could be in such vulnerable and dependant situations themselves.

Wow, they're the ones who need love the most! So true, I think it's boiled down to COMPASSION, which is an umbrella that covers love, forgiveness, acceptance. Buddhist way. We are all one, maybe we "were" someone else in need of love in another life(future or past), perhaps.

Perhaps it’s how you define love, love to me is full acceptance of what is. It’s not an emotion. It’s a state of being. Accepting those that are difficult to love is a great opportunity to ask yourself why you’re triggered. Are you not accepting them the way they are in the moment? Without judgment. Can you see the light in them that is in you? We all share that Christ consciousness which isn’t our behavior but rather our essence
@Hermetic7
@Hermetic7 Жыл бұрын
@@lisacaprio6302 - No doubt you are partially right as I have looked into this concept. However, the fact remains that, while incarnated, we cannot escape acting in the face of harmful behavior so this concept is not enough. An example would be the parent who kicks their kid out of the house for being gay (have had friends who this happened to). Any actual parent who would do something like this to their child is behaving in a vile, repugnant manner and must have been raised in a barn. One who is a parent has ONE simple job…to love their child unconditionally. They accepted that job when they brought the child into this world…and it is obvious in this example by their behavior that they are an abysmal failure at that job and even the job of being a compassionate human. So, NO, in this moment I CANNOT see the light in them because THEY are OBSCURING it. Their essence is NOT shining through and their behavior is causing irreparable harm. Our essence is here, but we are obligated to BEHAVE in a way that corresponds to our essence. There are no excuses in this. When we fall short, we accept our shortfall and try again. We DO NOT continue on with the shortfall. I do not sit back in non-judgment and see the gunman who is killing people in his essence. I do whatever it takes, including killing him, to stop him on his rampage. His light is OUT at the moment and his behavior DOES matter.

@@lisacaprio6302 // it's easy to say that until your child is murdered. If your child was murdered like mine...how would you really feel? Yes, we can accept they are human, but HATE what they did. Edit: and you know that's full on emotion, triggered by his motion.

@@Hermetic7 Parents are doing the best they can with their own life experience. Often many do not get that lesson until they become parents and come to understand just how tuff the job is, make their own mistakes, and finally learn to forgive their parents errors, even abuse physical and emotional abuse/abandonment and more. Carrying the judgement against a parent ultimately harms the person who holds the angst/grudge/judgement more then the parent. Those negative emotions people use to justify and nurse their wounds prevent them from becoming their best self emotionallly and spiritually. Often if they become parents, they repeat what they dispise, or way over compensate with no boundaries which produces children who never learn to be responsible. Part of the journey here is to make mistakes, the mistakes create growth, the wounds create growth, we came here to learn.
@Hermetic7
@Hermetic7 Жыл бұрын
@@lboales9944 I don’t disagree with what you stated here. We all are only doing the best we can. As Maya Angelou stated “When you know better, do better.” I would only point out that, if you re-read my comment, you will see that I was very careful with my words to not judge the person, only the behavior. I try hard not to judge people. I am judging behavior. And that is because we generally know deep within our hearts when our behavior is harmful to ourselves and others, but we allow ourselves to be unconscious in the face of it. So, the work is to be conscious of what we are doing so that we can catch ourselves when our behavior goes off the rails and in this way make amends. That’s what learning is all about…to become conscious.

I get the feeling that when she’s referring to “bad guys”, she’s talking about the real black hats on this planet…the ones who hold far too much power over humanity and what they do to climb to those levels and what they’re willing to do to maintain their control. This channell resonates deeply within me. I'm 52 now...and I have no real NDE to speak of...but several teachings from my Christian upbringing left me feeling confused...especially when growing up around a bunch of kids that all went to the same private christian schools in Tennessee during the late 1970's to mid 1980's. I got bullied, teased,and publicly humiliated by these same people who always called themselves Christians. when I was 30..I read a book by Sylvia Browne that resonated so deeply within me that it finally anwered a big bunch of questions I've had for decades. the body of work by Michael Newton reaffirmed it....and now this channel deftly explains and interviews people that give me a deep sense of peace...and yes....vindication ....as to what I had to endure in order to be the person I am today.

She just made me super confident about how to perform CPR because it has been quite a long time since I've taken one of those classes. 🎶I, I, I, I'm stayin' alive, stayin alive 🎶 For me that translates to '1-2-3-4, 1 hold - 2 hold, 1 hold - 2 hold, ' Repeat. Just rest when you need to naturally and follow your intuition in the moment. Thank you, Kimberly. While Kimberly says she's unpolished, I see her as authentic and real which is worth gold to me. Biggest lessons: Unconditional LOVE and Boundaries ☑ "By the time I got to SF I was a hippie" -- Kimberly -- 😀 🎶By the time we got to Woodstock, we were half a million strong And everywhere was song and celebration 🎶 I'd buy an audible book from Kimberly. Those work best for me.

All these responses are not enough to express how absolutely charming this delightfully real lady that you, Alex choose to interview

Lovely comment. I think with the chest compressions there aren’t supposed to be long pauses! The song staying alive just gives you an idea of keeping the beat (2 compressions per second) but you would need to continually do the compressions until either the person comes round or until emergency services arrives.

When I was taught CPR in the 70s, I said to myself why are we doing month-to-month when, by compressing on the chest, air is automatically being put into our lungs? I guess I should have spoken up.

Kimberly says she’s not polished in the interview process, but for me that makes her soooo relatable! She’s intelligent, well-spoken, funny, warm, sincere and a bunch more. I’d love to have her as a friend! Great interview, Alex. I’ve just recently found your channel and I love the way you conduct your interviews. You too are warm, funny, sincere and professional…awesome channel…thank you!

I read about a child who had a life review. He was shown that he was affecting the adults around him even though he was just a kid. I think he drowned and the pictures from his life were showing up in bubbles. It profoundly changed him.

One of the best NDEs I have ever heard. She tells her story with humility. It is easy to connect with her because of that humility. Thank you Kimberly for sharing your inspiring story.

I want to reassure Kim that telling her story from the heart is just perfect. No need for so much polishing. People relate to what is authentic. I have heard you speak in person and on KZbin. I find you very relatable.

I've been listening to your interviews lately. I had 3 NDE and isn't that interesting that my experience was very much like mine. I never shared it with very many people because I was afraid they would judge me. I was given a choice to stay or come back. I really appreciate the work that you do b/c it's been very helpful for me on my spiritual journey so thank you

Just signed up to IAND's mailing list, hope I can get some of my experiences explained that way. Kimberly is absolutely fantastic, I could use some lessons from her. There are many who are psychic and can sense more than most. It's just far from everyone who has been there themselves... Many thanks for a good interview. 😊

I think news of NDE"s was surfacing at that time in the 70's because medical science and abilities were at a place where they were able to bring some people back from the brink of death so they could actually live to talk about the NDE.

It is very hard. I have lost both my parents - my Mum 6 years ago. I speak to her photo every night before I go to sleep and I know she can hear me. I see her in my dreams sometimes and that is very special. Your Mum will find a way to connect with you. Try to be open to it. Talk to her - she hears you. Take care ❤
