i haven't touched this game since metamorph in 2019 and it actually terrifies me how much different my experience is now vs then

Everyone is online nowadays, yes, but most don't know _how_ to use a computer, outside of the absolute minimum of using a web browser, in part because apps/programs/websites/etc. have been made so "user-friendly" that you don't need to learn much in order to use them, and in part due to everyone already being online and thus "not needing" to be taught basic computer literacy. I don't say that as wanting to gatekeep people from enjoying whatever on the internet, but as being genuinely concerned for peoples' safety online. I've seen it a couple times where, on TF2-centric discord servers, someone asks if there's any way to get back items lost from a scammer. It used to baffle me that someone would fall for "hey i want to buy your item but i need to make sure it isnt duped, i got steam support here just trade them your item so they can look at it." Still does, a bit, but I can at least sort of understand now. That's just a personal example, you got people falling for the type of stuff you'd expect only older people or people who don't do anything online would fall for, getting their credit card info stolen (or worse). I can't be frustrated at the people who aren't able to do something as simple as opening zip or rar files. Used to be exasperating, but now it makes me sad.

The last smart people (in the software industry) were alive in like the 90s... that's why HTML5 websites break constantly, every mobile OS sucks, windows 10 / 11 is what it is, and Steam's new web client in idle uses more memory than every 'Orange Box' game combined running simultaneously. The 'old guard' left and now new developers are too lazy to heed old wisdom because they'd rather re-invent the wheel (without the knowledge or experience to actually pull that off well).

Ah yes, Path of Exile. The game whose endgame feels like unending gambling and whose gameplay is as good as raw, pure cocaine. So all in all, game's fine I guess? Although the goblins are in the game so 0/10, worst game ever made
