This has to be the saddest melody and lyric ever recorded. I sing also, and trying to get through this song without tearing, is impossible, even years later. It is not always about losing a relationship, it is also about losing a life of someone you have loved.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've lost my husband due to illness as well. He was in a coma for 2 days prior to his death, so goodbye wasn't truly shared. I know I wish that his last breath would have been my last breath as well. But I still have family here, and I guess God isn't finished with me yet. Please listen to Still Holding On by Clint Black. It has helped so much to give me hope that goodbye is just for now. I feel like I'm just Killing Time until then, but out time will come on the other side. God bless and keep you through your life and try to remember the good times that you both shared.

To love and lose is the worst kind of difficulty. I lost one long-time love to death, and I never loved that deeply again. I tried, but after 6 years, it was goodbye, though not my idea, still, there's no blame in my heart because I could have made things turn out differently, but chose not to. Alone is sometimes better, but you have to accept it and then things smooth out when the flame of love dies and life goes on. Broken hearts can mend, in time. I found it far harder to lose a beloved pet, who was in my life twice as long as my marriage, with my dog, and 3 times longer for my cat, I still miss my pets but I'm long over the marriage that didn't last. When I think of love now, I think of the one who died, and my pets.

One of the best country music songs of all time & sung by two great talents. The country music of 70's & 80's was the best. The stuff today with the exception of a few artists, doesn't cut it with me. Give me Vince Gill, Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Dolly Parton, Reba McIntyre, Martina McBride, over any of them today!! ❤🎶

Out of the blue, my husband told me to listen to this new song. We were in the truck in our driveway, back from a road trip in the woods. I had suspected, but this confirmed it, and I broke out in grief-stricken tears that he tried to console me from and convince me it had nothing to do with us. Two months later, he left me and our four dogs and our pond for greener grass. The pain was something I will never get over, but I sang it with a hot-shot karaoke guy (I hope he made it pro), and we got a standing O! Musta been my pain showing. That's music.

I happened to be the one to leave after 10 years of marriage and 3 beautiful boys but, I had no choice, I just couldn't handle the cheating anymore, and it wasn't just once, or with just one woman. Because our home was some sort of comfort to my kids, I left him the house with a caveat in the divorce that the kids be placed on the deed, and I wouldn't take half of anything. Leaving my home was excruciating, as was facing the thought that I had failed, and that it was because of me that everyone's hearts were broken. I took on all of that blame, because I was the one who'd chosen to leave, and it all weighed so heavy on my heart and soul like a ton of bricks. I had to get back into the workforce, find a new home, and start my entire life over with 3 kids depending on me, the real kicker was, I still loved that man despite all he had done. He had left me with no choice but to leave, my mental health was at a critical breaking point, so I had to muster up the courage and strength that I still had, then leave before it broke what little was left in me. Looking back 25 years later, he was so absolutely full of sh*t to let me take all of that weight and blame on myself, because it was he who had broken his vows, he who destroyed our family, and he who let our kids and myself believe that it was all my fault. It was all classic signs of gaslighting that I didn't recognize when I was going through it. Can I leave anyone with a great big success story? Yes and no, none of us came out of that war unscathed or unbroken in some way, shape, or form. I never remarried, because I could never fully trust again but, my boys have given me 6 grandkids who I can spend as much of my free time with as possible. After your kids have all left home you feel a type of freedom that you haven't felt in 40 years, and it's amazing yet lonely at the same time. There are times when I recognize that I can come and go when I please, that I don't have to wrestle with someone over the remote, or that I don't have to clean and cook for an Army, it's during those times that I feel I've won the jackpot. Then there are those times when that empty nester loneliness hits with a ton of weight, and I must recognize that I have no one to share in that loneliness, that I have no one to enjoy the quiet with during a long walk on the beach, or that I have no one to just share a bath and a glass of wine with to unwind, it's during those times that I feel I haven't won anything at all. Life and love sure can be a double edged sword.

This could have been written by the man I loved in 1970. A state Trooper that had to go back to his district after loving each other for 4 months while he was on assignment. He said these words to me the night before he left. We still keep in touch but are married to other people. I'll never stop loving him.

Clint Black + Wynonna Judd = great combo. And let's not forget about the musicians, who, according to the album's liner notes include Larry Byrom (acoustic guitar), Dann Huff (electric guitar), Leland Sklar (bass), Paul Franklin (steel guitar), James Stroud (percussion) and Matt Rollings (piano), with Steve Dorff as the arranger/conductor for the orchestration. Sad, but beautiful song. In my opinion, the 1990s was easily the best decade for the country music genre.

I've been bound to leave you, We've known that for awhile I'm sure it's something I can't do If I can't leave you with a smile I don't know how far I'll have to go 'Til I'm sure those eyes won't cry And in my mind I've left enough to know That I can't leave you With a bad goodbye. Goodbye, easier said than done Goodbye, there's no good when you're the one Whose goodbye you swore would never come And in my goodbye you're finding none. I'm still bound to leave you, I surely don't know how My heart won't let me put you through What my mind says should happen now. I don't know where we'll go from here, There may be no way to fly And the cloud I'm in just makes it All too clear that I can't leave you With a bad goodbye. Goodbye, easier said than done Goodbye, there's no good when you're the one Whose goodbye you swore would never come And in my goodbye you're finding none. How can we be so far between Where we are and one more try And any way I look, I've only seen that I can't leave you With a bad goodbye...

Instrumentation, lyrics, arrangements are the best in the business. He ignored what execs wanted him to be. Kenny and Tim and Toby (whom I still like a lot) followed more of a commercial appeal and created a certain image for themselves and Clint stayed his course and disregarded what anyone thought. All the way into the 2000s and his newest album that is about three years old. Not caring about record sales and sold-out stadiums. Most of his lyrics aren’t about the country life, either. They’re about thinkin’, time, “state of mind”, and cerebral concepts. Most underrated by far. Compositions and instrumentation are unmatched. And that voice and range! There will never be another CB! He killed Garth at the awards after their first album and Garth was probably crying and then turned up the marketing machine and stadium shows. He had some gems for sure but lyrics (writes his own), instrumentation, voice, compositions, Clint is the most underrated by a million miles. Best there was or is imo. Hayden is my favorite guitar player ever. And his albums since the 90’s are top notch and overlooked. Sad. Still touring hard!

And he would ask me what I was going to do when he's gone and I told him I would eventually have to move on! But it has been the hardest thing to do I sit here in my room all sudden and I just cry because I miss him so much.but than I realize I have to be strong and just remember that he will always be here with me and that the Good times we had together.
