clint mansell is easily my favourite modern composer... death is the road to awe, lux aeterna, dead reckoning, welcome to lunar industries (three year stretch), first snow...? sigh, his music nourishes my soul....

Musician - as in he played the parts? Or computer musician/arranger as in he sampled and added loops to someone else's parts? If I sample and re-arrange someone else's parts - in my book it doesn't make me a musician as such. If I use someone else's work as a genesis and then develop/play on it and make it into my own, that is different - you might even call it a remix!. Either way he seems to be doing very well for himself. Fair play to the man.

PWEI - one of the best bands ever! I first heard them when a friend who had moved from Germany to Panama loaned me a copied cassette of Cure for Sanity. I listened to it as I fell asleep, and I listened to the whole tape. Gave it to my brother who had brought back a cassette of Pretty Hate Machine from the US. 1990 was a helluva year for me. Weeks later I spotted This is the Day... at my local library on CD, I stole it! (Sorry Ft. Davis Library!! I'm a teacher now and making up for it!) Super happy to see this genius doing well. His scores are fantastic. Trent Reznor, whom I love, wouldn't be were he is if it wasn't for Clint Mansell. Thanks for this episode!

PWEI was a huge influence in my formative years and great to see Clint moving to bigger and better things. The Uk definitely punches above it's weight in music

Thanks! Would have loved more PWEI, but it's great to hear about Clint's composing too! The Poppies made a huge impact on this Victoria, Canada lad circa 1988. Finally saw them in 1991 in Vancouver, and as I worked for a record store, I got backstage. They (PWEI) invited us all nightclubbing, and I got to talk to Clint for about fifteen minutes on the trek to the club.

The poppies were a big part of my life during the late 80's in school then into the 90's were I followed then around the country. Brilliant vibe off every concert I went to, and an awesome time to be had. Thank you Clint for the best part of my life, I still listen to the poppies at 50 years of age, much respect

I got into PWEI around the time of Box Frenzy but it was This is the Day! that really resonated with me. I remember listening to it and thinking certain tracks had a really cinematic element to them...The Fuses Have Been Lit, Inject Me, Wake Up! Time to Die...I knew in some way they were somehow destined for greatness or a wider audience. I remember they did an amazing cover of the theme from Magnum Force. Great band and Cliint is an amazing composer.

Bumped into Clint Mansell on my way to Longcross Studios. Even though we were conversing the entire time, he was very humble (& slightly jetlagged after his flight from LA) I didn't even realise who he was until near the end of our 10 minute walk from the station to the production office when he introduced himself as "Clint".
