What kind of SIM card service it needs? Internet, phone calls, text, I am trying to minimize the cost without having extra?

I bought one of these openers and I’m having trouble setting it up. Do you have a good video of the programming? There are a bunch of them on KZbin but I can’t understand what they are saying…

How did you get the sim activated. ATT and Tracfone both said they won’t do it for the RTU

Covote 1, great info here, thanks. looking on E-bay a see a lots of the RTU5024 GSM Gate Opener for sale but they do not say if they are 4G or 3G. Does the 4G have another number other than 5024 or is it just the sim card that you buy? I do not understand 3G or 4G thanks. Please help.

Does your door popper trip your relay a lot? I used a 30amp inline fuse and it seems every two gate sets it pops the fuse

I had to use a 40 amp fuse and it stoped popping

Whats the point of the relay? Isnt the cellular device a relay?
@hughroughley33638 ай бұрын
It's the same as using a relay in your car to control driving lights, etc. The control unit only has a small amount of current, so you use that output to activate the relay (think of it as an electrical switch) to allow high current to flow from battery directly to the actuator (door popper). You are using small current to electrically control bigger current. The control unit would not be wired to handle 30/40 amp current draw of the door popper. It's circuit protection and reliability.

Also to have a control unit capable of handling 30/40 amps would cost a lot more than the unit this guy is using.
@hughroughley33638 ай бұрын
Unit has small current output. So you use a small output to control a larger current via relay. Also protects control unit from massive current draw and burning out if there is a malfunction with a seperate component of the system.

12v goes into control unit. Outputs of unit are NO, COM, NC. This means that COM =Earth or negative, NO = Switch is off until activated. NC = Switch is on and then turns off when activated. So you want 12v power into unit, output would be: Negative (COM) to Pin 85 of relay, Positive (NO) to Pin 86 of relay, Battery 12v positive to a 40 amp fuse then to Pin 87 of relay, Relay Pin 30 to positive wire on door popper, Battery negative to negative wire on door popper. You are using a small electrical input to control a larger electrical current via the relay. Clear as mud? 😂 Hope it helps
