I'm sure this is where the inspiration for Death from "The Sandman" came from. Death doesn't force us to go with them when it's time. They just hold out their hand patiently and peacefully guide us to what comes after this life. No pain. No malice. Just a kind, gentle face who comforts us when we realize it's time.

I want to dedicate this ending to my Auntie who found a new beginning tonight. God Bless her. I hope she has found peace at last.

One of the true, overlooked moments of genuine brilliance in TV. When he calls her Mother and the strings shimmer is achingly beautiful.

My Mother and older brother did that. Maybe it's a comfort to them. My older brother died 3 days after his 59th birthday. He wasn't that old. So I think there's something to it.

Yes towards the end of the episode. (Before her death.). He was talking kindly, and attempting to make her have courage.

The fear of Death is because of the pain of dying in the meantime. Or living through pain so much that you'd wish it was all over.

There was an old woman who lived in a room. And, like all of us, was frightened of the dark. But who discovered in a minute last fragment of her life that there was nothing in the dark that wasn't there when the lights were on. Object lesson for the more frightened amongst us, in or out…of the Twilight Zone. 😎

We as a people, as a community, as a society are so used to seeing people die painfully in movies, on television; in novels and short stories that we are convinced that dying is painful. The truth is we are not afraid of dying. We are afraid of pain.

Why was Twilight Zone in Black & White? Television shows were cheaper to produce in Black & White. Show producers did not really think into the future about there still being a market for a year decades later. Most network shows were being made in color by 1965 but Twilight Zone ended production in 1964. Another consideration was the availability of color televisions. When The Twilight Zone went on the air in 1959, most if not all televisions were Black & White, so it wouldn't have helped to make it in color.

@dark-nite6232
@dark-nite6232 2 жыл бұрын
@@dennisjones44 that's a good theory but I also believe that this is actually Death himself using her son's appearance. Or it could in fact be her son cause Death maybe knows that if her son comes to confront her about dying then she would listen and follow her son. But she doesn't recognize her son sense she might have Amnesia or dementia. It's until he says mother that you can see her eyes glow a bit and is a little shaken but is now standing still and as he reaches his arms out to her. And when he talks to her about how she is now dead and is now going to continue her life as there is more to come for her she smiles realizing she's truly gone from this world and is entering a new better world and she walks with him not scared anymore and still smiling which is so sad. This is just a theory however this is just something that I want to believe lol but theres probably a much simple reason to why he said mother.

My personal interpretation is less obvious. I never at any time thought he was being literal about being her son in any way. I think he uses the term more as an honorific than a literal expression. It's the same way "grandmother" is sometimes used as a polite title for any elder woman, much the way "auntie" is today. When Mr. Death calls Wanda "Mother," he is both being respectful and perhaps allowing her to realise a long-unfulfilled regret of NOT having been a mother. She never mentions having been married or had children, so perhaps suddenly have a "son" in her final moments was what nudged her to accept his hand.

This episode is very interesting. In a philosophical point its questioned us about our Life and our mission of Life. About Death and the Hereafter ( and above all if You believe in GOD ). I believe in GOD and in the Hereafter I am afraid of Death even though I believe in GOD I am a Muslim
