Color adds so much to this old series!!! They should colorize the whole series to reach another generation.

Such a beautiful episode. My wife works with many old people and most will say “I’m afraid to die.” But when an elder happens to pass at her job, she says they always have a smile on their face. I wonder if this is how it is. Death coming, visiting and taking them. ❤❤❤❤

Donald trump states REPEATEDLY “ Dogs are filthy animals that serve no purpose”. JD Vance blame women with cats as the “destruction of America” Now contrast- Pres Joe Biden has 2 rescue dogs ( 1 recently died of cancer) and 1 cat. VP Harris has a dog and 2 cats. Character to love and give to pets.

This is my favorite Twilight Zone episode, but I always think it's kind of weird that the old man is happy is wife is gonna die soon. Sure they're gonna be together in Heaven, but she's gonna die of sadness really soon, and he's glad about it!

Death is not something to fear but simply to understand. Not anything evil just an old friend to taking you home.

If Rod Serling had wanted this show to be in color, he certainly would have filmed it that way. Color TV was first developed in 1944, and was first broadcast in the United States in 1951. The “colorizing” of this clip is so bad, that Serling himself would have jumped off the train to Willoughby, rather than having it broadcast to America!

People who enter the Zone often wind up dead(like Walter and Ethel Bedeker) or insane(as is the case with Paul Radin and Gunther Lutze).

I too prefer to see TZ in b&w, although the colorization is lovely. Im addition to Gig Young's superb performance, the episode features a fine performance by Frank Overton and an achingly beautiful score by Bernard Herrmann.

I was moved by this episode as a kid not even in his teens so fascinated by heartwarming stories found in fairy tale books read to us by our kindergarten and early grade school by one of the most loving women of the community who loved we kids with all her heart. We could come up to her and tell her anything and she would just grant us all the beingness that could ever exist. That woman's love has stuck with me why whole life. A Christian woman. This tale here is utterly Christian morality play. It's OK to be brought to tears as this episode did all those many years ago.

James Daly was an excellent actor, I remember him best from Medical Center where he played the seasoned boss to the sometimes cavalier Chad Everette. He was Mr Flint as a special guest on Star Trek. I really liked his straight man work... His son Tim went public that his father James was gay, and lived most of his life acting as a model straight man. He got married, had children, and finally got divorced and came out to his family. After Medical Center stopped production, James took some time off, then made a decision to go back to the stage. He had signed a contract for the leading role in a play, and he was studying the part and working on the character development when he died young of a heart attack.... He was of the Hollywood generation that smoked between 2-4 packs of cigarettes a day, and for years he was a paid spokesperson for RJ Reynolds hawking unfiltered Camels, which I think was perhaps better than using the popular Crocidolite (Micronite) filters used in Kent cigarettes. I think the tobacco sent him to an early grave, like so many others of that heavy smoking crowd.
