My friend had diabetes and literally woke up blind one day without warning from it. She got a guide dog. She had twins that were toddlers at the time and was a school teacher and her blood sugars were not managed from her being so busy. It cost her her eyesight. I went with her to the CNIB and found out there are SO MANY people blind from diabetes in Toronto alone. Was alarming all the stuff I learned through her. Chantal is in worse shape than she was when she went blind so she has no idea the gamr of russian roulette she is playing with everything.

When I was in my early 20’s I dated a guy who had T1 diabetes and he had catastrophic consequences from trying to pretend like he wasn’t diabetic for most of his teens and early 20’s. He woke up one morning after a particularly hard night of drinking and basically couldn’t see anything other than a red tinged blur. He ended up having a detached retina and losing vision in the left eye completely. You can only ignore diabetic issues for so long before they become super serious.

The Retinopathy is that bad, because it CAN'T BE HEALED. No amputation can save that like with blood flow issues. It's not something a well adjusted diabetic has to think about, but I knew one who didn't want to stay on the diet she was given and ended up blind and without legs. It might not affect you all that much at 40, but there's 45, 50....

T2D reporting in to add a few tidbits. Diabetes is a disease that brings an entourage of different diseases/conditions with it if you don't take care of yourself. Effectively managing it means you really need to watch your diet, make sure that you exercise daily and stay on top of your health checkups so that you're aware as to how well (or not) you are managing your condition(s). As for her diet, Foodie really should be paying a lot of attention to her carbohydrate (because the body will break it down into sugar) and sugar intake, as well as her horrifying sodium intake over calories. At her size, she can actually eat quite a bit and still lose quite a bit of weight before having to adjust her calories accordingly. Protein is much more satiating in general and, if she were to ever get her diabetes under control, she could treat herself to something she likes occasionally. Given the way that she eats and manages her health however, I don't see that happening at all. That is quite a shame too, because even at the stage her health is in, any positive changes made would net some really positive results. As always, fantastic job on the video and thank you for taking the time to break down the macros. I'm not always familiar with what she consumes and it's always interesting to see what the macros are versus what my general estimated guesses are 🙂

IMO, definitely a few things going on. I’ve noticed that she has been up and out a bit in the mornings, rather than staying awake all night and sleeping at that time. The cooking at home a bit more. I think Salah has become insistent on some things lately. Her baby talk and whining really is damn annoying. I look at your meal macro breakdown and it definitely makes me feel better about what I am eating. You’re right on track about her calorie counting (for what it’s worth) and ignoring all the other important numbers, especially carbs.

At her size this meal if someone okay oh she would have to do is swap out the syrup for sugar-free and use a pancake mix that has more protein. She doesn't do portion sizes and right now I honestly don't think she could for what she could do is go from 4 C of rice down to two cups of rice. Go from full fat too milk cottage cheese whatever down to 2%. I have actually seen weight loss channels that make the same breakfast but like I said they use a pancake mix with protein in it they use sugar-free syrups and they weigh out their strawberries and butter. She basically has to work her way down there's no way she can sustain going from 4 cups two and a half a cup that will not work for her it's unsustainable right now. Yeah...I guarantee that the soup will be a carb-laden concoction with beans, rice, or potatoes, so there will be no need for crackers. And of course, we have the mandatory cheese.
