I love these videos about counties in Ireland, you don't show the touristy spots but more the places that everyone wants to find and goto, so we can be those tourist invading the local space, that think we are being all cool and low key. Shout out to all the locals who put up with us. :)

Also, it's wild hearing the same town names that exist in Ontario Canada that originate in Ireland. Listowel is just one of them.

In St. Paul Minnesota USA they have a Klondike Kate contest during a Winter festival. I know it would benefit with an imported Irish lady who is funny and can carry a tune

Ah, and Kerry is lovely. I do remember one time we were on vacation/holiday, driving around the Ring of Kerry. We made a serious planning error, though, and started out just as a huge bicycle marathon was starting. So, we spent the first half of the Ring drive just trying to navigate around clumps of bicycles on the narrow roads, trying to get around them without hitting oncoming traffic. No chance to enjoy the sites... We even stopped for lunch and they were still coming (they started in waves). Finally, we got to Valentia Island and went there instead, to let them all pass. When we finally got back on the Ring two hours later, they were mostly gone, just a few stragglers left. That was late afternoon. This would have been June.

Here in Minneapolis, we have a very convenient little greenway running from the rich folx area in the west through what used to be the industrial heart of the city, and then it becomes a more usual bike trail where the Minneapolis Moline factory was, long ago. What's neat about it is that the greenway, formerly a small connecting railroad, is in a cut, maybe 20 feet/6 meters deep, so there's no danger of being hit by a car for the bulk of the route. To keep the city connected, there are the old railroad bridges every few blocks. The one nearest my house, is an utterly quotidian concrete bridge with no decoration. But the cornerstone says "1916," so I always like to think about how it was being built around the time of the Rising, and about everything it's seen since. (You have to take what you can get for old stuff in the Midwest -- Europeans didn't start building anything here until well into the 19th century.)

But now they're taking the trees down in residential neighborhoods to connect that path, right?
@FreezyAbitKT7A

@@LindaC616 It's always been connected since the 1900s. Are you talking about it extending on the existing railroad bed?

@@FreezyAbitKT7A I think it's in the region of Saint Thomas. A friend of mine lives in Afton but works there, and I guess there's some concern in the neighborhood about removing the trees which are historic and beautiful and give the neighborhood a certain character versus bike safety because the road is so crazy around there

@11:57 I was in the legion and at times I only had either written letters or public phone boxes in order to contact anyone, dont underestimate the appreciation by someone when you contact them. I've got ex girlfriends and friends that still have letters I wrote, at times adding some sand or dirt from where I was, 'From a red Dawn in the middle of the Chadian desert I hope this letter finds you well' take the time and say hello.

Yes you definitely don't see pay phone booths anywhere in the US as well. You might come across a payphone outside a train station or bus station, maybe in a laundry mat and possibly might still be in some shopping mall.

Claire Ireland is so Painfully Beautiful. I know that sounds a bit strange to say. To long for a place Ive never been. I look at pictures and make it my Wallpaper at work 1) Bc my Momma is sick now and I wish I could take her to Ireland where so many lines of our family came from. 2) So many Irish families in America call Ireland home. Not in that we abandon America but bc previous generations even if they never been themselves Ireland is another “home” bc the Original generations passed Such an Intense Love of Ireland down that no matter what crap hole or hardship in America they faced HOME was the Beauty of Ireland. So Im pining today for myself and my cancer stricken Mother bc I wish I could take her “Home” for the first time to see what our elder generations were talking about. Im so hoping I can get her there before she goes to heaven so she has a comparison point. Bc Ive heard so many people say if Heaven isnt a lot like Ireland they dont want to go. I love you and Alex though Ive never met you bc in my mind you and all the other lovely tryers are our long lost cousins across the sea. Thank you for all the lovely content and trips too, to confirm Ireland is absolute Heaven 🙏🏼💖🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲💖💖
