Clive Barker's Jericho is a first person shooter survival horror video game with author Clive Barker providing the premise of the storyline. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2007.
Jericho‍ '​s core gameplay consists of leading the game's seven-man team codenamed Jericho, allowing control of all team members by jumping to each character during certain points in the game, through various environments that have been warped by the Firstborn while fighting off a variety of twisted creatures.
The game also features several "survival events" where the player must press the corresponding buttons or keys shown on screen in order to successfully survive. Additionally, each team member has both a primary and a secondary attack, either in the form of an alternate fire such as a grenade launcher on a rifle, or a secondary weapon such as a sword or pistol that can be dual wielded. While the game is a first person shooter, the ability to control different members of one's squad adds a tactical element; players must determine which squad member is appropriate for each particular job. Not only does each squad member have different strengths and weaknesses, but they also each have a unique ability (or supernatural abilities in some cases). This allows the player freedom in choosing a playing style that suits them throughout much of the game. However, during certain instances, certain characters are unplayable.
The squad's supernatural abilities play a prominent role in the game. The character the player originally controls is a psychic healer (medic) with the ability to fully heal fallen comrades that are close to death. Other squad members have other powers, such as summoning a fire demon, slowing time, firing a guided bullet, and leeching life from enemies to add it to one's own.

I had a lot of fun playing this game and I wish there were more games willing to take the "M" seriously. The story was great and I did enjoy the characters, to include their interactions like when you swap into a character and they comment "Ross is that you???". I liked the fact that you play as "Ross" a disembodied member of the team so that swapping felt more like his choice not yours. The only thing I started to dislike was the repeating of enemies where you would fight the same type of boss 3 times in a row. otherwise the body horror is one of the best I have ever seen and it made me feel like the fate of the characters was really on the line. Entering further into the Demon hell scape was really really fun.

say what you want about me, but I love this game. I know gameplaywise it isn't all that great, but when I got it in 2008 (I was 14 btw) it blew my mind with its story, designs, concepts, spectacle. I dunno, it just felt awesome from the moment I saw the first monster and started shooting at it, to the epic conclusion, it was quite a journey, felt really amazing going back in time up to Sumer (I didn't even know what it was back then). And to this day I enjoy replaying it from time to time.

+Aedan Clarke Tom Clancy didn't have shit to do with either the Ghost Recon or Splinter Cell franchises. Only Rainbow Six was based on his original material, and his involvement in any game development has been nearly nonexistent besides the use of his name. So if anything, the use of his name was to only to market these franchises to those already familiar with his moniker and brand of espionage/military fiction, and to introduce a new gamer audience to him. Not to give him credit for contributing much of anything. And Clancy was alive when 95% of games in these 3 franchises were released and still contributed nothing besides the lone Rainbow Six novel from 1998. So yeah, it's pretty cool that Clive Barker actually wrote the story to a game instead of lending his name for promotional purposes and getting a check in the mail for contributing nothing to the development.

The Clive Barker style, especially the visual aspect of it, is what I really like about this game. So much so that it redeems the mediocre gameplay for me. But out of his two games I'd say Undying is overall better.

Reeo Thec the artstyle is instanty recognizable, especially the Monsters. It's the closest thing to hellraiser in terms of artstyle. Story is nothing special and is nothing that the game itself emphasizes, it's more about style than substance.

Well how, easily. I don't think gameplay is bad at all myself. Having different characters instead of just different weapons is neat. Environments and enemy design is just amazing. There is no other game with this style. (Well soon enough there will be Agony which I'm looking forward to for this very same reason.) It simply feels lot like Serious Sam/Painkiller type of shooter just with less enemies so you progress trough each level more swiftly. Which is perfect because shooting itself does not feel quite as fun as in those games. I was actually really suprised when I learned that this game is so hated, when it came out I played trough it several times as well. Pretty much purely to go into that world again.

I actually really enjoyed this one but will admit that the team AI is pretty bad. The combat isn't all that engaging either but the scenery and story keep me glued, it's pretty unique for a videogame. I used Delgado mostly, doing a combination of his minigun and the fire dragon. I also used Abigail a lot as her sniper ghost shot (or whatever it's called) is pretty useful, and I would use her rocket-launcher shot Quake-style, aiming at the ground and letting the blast damage kill enemies. When you get into a groove and learn how to really mow down enemies it's fun, but I'd say the first playthrough for anyone will probably be pretty rough.

l could not disagree more about the melee character being useless ,it's in fact the key to survive in harder difficulties since when combined with blood spell the sword it's a ONE HIT KILL weapon (for the enemies affected by the restraining blood spell)

Got it for 5 euro and honestly I enjoyed it... Once you learn how to place your team when facing exploding enemies you don't have to revive your team very often you can let the priest do that,same vs the bosses.... Which is why you may enjoy it it more on a second play, already knowing how to place everyone. It's flawed but I still think it's not as bad as people say. If you love the art style and can deal with some shitty qtes, it's worth a shot for a small amount

I actually loved this game. I think the fact that you have to constantly be switching characters adds a sense of team playing, in which you don't have to think of yourself as one of the characters, but as the team itself. Also, I just love the monster models and the whole atmosphere, the levels are one giant organism, visceral, organic, gory

This is the type of game that doesn't do well for the hard material critics, but on the artistic side it really rocks. Not just the graphics, story line, but the special techniques each character has. I wonder how hard it would be to make/find a combat rebalance mod for this game, since that seems to be the big issue. With a little tweaking -- and, perhaps, doubled health bars -- the game could probably be something more fondly remembered. I was SUPER pumped for this game before it came out, but as soon as I saw reviews I put off buying it until I found it cheap -- like, three dollars cheap. I was playing on easy, and even at that level the bullet sponge nature of the enemies was just aggravating in the extreme, and I made it maybe an hour and a half into the game before giving up.

Agreed with the review, if you're an "occult" just play it through on the lowest possible difficulty so you don't have to deal with the shody gameplay as much. Theme wise there's alot here, each of the squadmembers's powers are based on some ocult aspect. The sniper can aim bullets because she's telekinetic, the hackers litterarly hacks reality for short periods of time (something to do with chaos theory and quamtum physics , something like that), the juggernaut has an aztec fire spirit possesing his arm (thats why he has that runed obelisk on his left arm, he opens it and the spirit goes nuts, but let it out to long and it starts burning you), the katana wielding chick is a witch / blood mage etc etc.

Honestly I got the demo on a gaming magezine CD, and got the full game from a friend, man was I blown away by the games graphics and story, the fights were a bit shitty sometimes but was still great. Still waiting for the sequal :) i want it!!!

Great review, but you forgot to mention how Church is made *extra* useless by the fact that Jones has the same abilities as her, only more powerful. Also, Rawlings' healing ability may seem useless at first, but that changes once you realise that there is no limit on the range of his healing ability, meaning that he can revive fallen team mates from the other end of the level.

Not true. Jones requires visual contact, which can get you killed, and is only extra useful in crowds. It also doesn't work unless you can astral project to the enemy, which enemies such as the flying ones cannot be projected to. It also lasts a shorter time.

There's something to be said about this game's oppressive atmosphere. Pyxis is such a good concept for a horror game: it's essentially hell, that grows ever larger with each cycle, trapping different time periods in its layers. And it's not CooL, FuN, MetaL hell like in Doom Eternal. Instead it's genuinely grim, nauseating and torturous place and you'll want to escape the moment you set foot in it. But your squad will go deeper and deeper into Pyxis, uncovering the horrifying fates of previous Jericho squads, which essentially fought the same battle you do, won and were trapped here for eternity anyway. I am very much fond of this sense of dread in my horror games, works for me a lot better than jumpscares. And for that, I am ready to forgive this game alot of its flaws. I like it. P.S. Also, the gameplay isn't that bad. I think the fact that you stuck to Delgado for most of the time did you no favors. He's just a very blunt and straightforward "damage dude", who's not very good without the disabling abilities of Church and Jones.

Um, this might be a Mandella effect here. But I recall Jericho being a third person sci fi shooter on PS2 that played like a Dante game. You fought skeletons and corpses and the like. I've never seen this game in my life.

Honestly, I loved this game. Especially the art direction and music. Also, the story is really intriguing and scary, biblical style. Gameplay, length and some other technical aspects expose a team with little experience on these kind of games, but still, achieved and enjoyable experience... Nonetheless, I insist most of the thrill comes from the first aspects I mentioned.

Download ammo is what you get when you have a nerdy witch, think of them as premade scrolls only in digital format. Also I didn't find the characters underwhelming, I found them to be fairly powerful and shotguns were integrated into other's weapons. But when facing hordes of the undead... Would you really take anything else than a machine gun? You know, the type of weapon that can just keep spraying death against things that do not seem to want to die? Also how the hell is the sniper under powered? If you actually guide it properly you can kill several enemies with one shot, just don't shoot the immortal undead in their chests.

I'm confused as to how a sniper rifle with guided bullets that can turn corners and go through multiple enemies, is at all underpowered in any situation ever lol

I don't know. I see so much hate for this game but I simply love it. I can't express in words how much I enjoyed it.

I played that game years ago. I got stuck at the part where the witch lady was trying to bite your fingers while you were exorcising her. It was impossible. No matter how hard I tried and how fast I was, I'd always lose. I'd do it fast enough to get my hands away from her mouth but I'd still lose somehow, as if there was a bug or something. I just dropped it after that.

i loved this game sure it has up and downs but none the less amazing looking enemy's and creepy dark tone
