I was hoping for Tifa like most people, but ngl, they cooked with Clive. I recently got ff16 on steam sale and am really enjoying it. Clive is just a cool dude and good pick. The stage looks amazing as well. Overall really happy and I’ll get my Tifa fix when ff7 rebirth comes to pc next month

Nah not really, like sure they both have weapons and magic but noctis barely used any magic, he pretty much only used them in his throws. Also I haven’t played FF15 in years but if I remember correctly the “magic” in that game was like…. Consumable items?? So it wasn’t even really magic lmao. The most magical thing about noctis was his use of weapons and teleportation. Clive, being from a more midevil setting, as we can see has a TON of magic it looks like. But unlike noctis all of Clive’s weapons have magical properties. He has his flame sword, electric spears and idk what else lmao I didn’t play the full game. Noctis weapons were just normal weapons he could just summon them and make them disappear. I’m rambling, my point is they’re actually super different. Maybe I can see some similarities?? But I do think people saying he’s just noctis (not that you were saying that) is just a negative bias, and them both being FF characters that happen to both use weapons and some magic is about as much of a similarity you’re gonna get imo.

Well, I was hoping for Blaze Fielding, so this is quite a leap from what I wanted to see. That said, Clive does look like he got some sauce, and I'm more interested in him than Heihachi. Not enough to get the 3 day early access, but I think I will try him out at some point. Soul Calibur is way too big a risk for Namco in this current economic climate, so I definitely foresee more sword n' sorcery type characters getting drip-fed overtime - including Soul Calibur characters, themselves. MItsurugi, Taki and Ivy all seem like telegraphed characters at this point, especially with Yoshimitsu in the opening roster.

There are individuals in the world of FFXVI that have the power to embody the classic summons of Final Fantasy (Ifrit, Garuda, Odin, Titan, Shiva, Ramuh, Phoenix, Bahamut) which they call in-world as 'Eikons'. These people are called Dominants. Clive is the Dominant of Ifrit, an Eikon that nobody knew about because the only Eikon representing fire was Phoenix. In FFXVI, Dominants also have a half-Eikon form in which they're still human but are wielding a manifestation of their Eikon's power to have a distinct advantage in battle. Clive is shown to be able to steal the power of the other Dominants and wield their powers as his own. But, he can only ever turn into Ifrit during Eikon battles. The Eikonic abilities he steals are basically loadouts during your adventure
