The driver took a huge risk leaving the car propped like that to readjust when proper placement of the truck at the beginning would have eliminated that risk

real nice drag your winch cable on the deck. I would fire a driver for that. chewing up the deck and the cable for no reason. all he had to do was tilt the deck back down to brace it, it wouldn't damage the equipment and then it would have been a perfect recovery. other then that very nicely done.

We always put a snatch block on the rear corner of the bed so once the car is clear of the ditch a lot of times it'll roll right up or you can pull forward a little and it'll line up to the bed

Exactly, I understand what he was doing , he was keeping one lane open but with the side puller he's got lots of work with limited space to secure car. Snatch bloke that cable to the back of the deck car comes to deck drive a head and you're good

He should put cones out there to give drivers a heads up of what's going on on that windy road or someone has to come & recover him when he's flattened by a car.

Why not snatch block from right rear. when car clears the hill, pull truck forward & re-rig? IF the bed could stand a side pull?

I agree with tilting the bed, but he is very careless. I'd never walk around a road like that even if it's rarely travelled

Personally, I would rather take my chances on a cable or chain failure rather than stand with traffic whizzing by me. I know my truck and how it's maintained, but I don't know how good that driver is coming at me. You might want to consider that. I also agree on tilting the bed to prevent dragging the cable.

Not the way I would have done it but we have put wood down on the ground where the rope and ground would make contact on certain recoveries. The wood is a good sacrifice for the wire rope and it slide right over it nicely. If you have to run the rope over the sharp edge of the bed consider throwing a piece on the edge at least.

I have 3 medium duty rollbacks, 2 of the 3 have 10,000 lb SRS with remote control, I'm just saying if you don't have one, you're missing the boat
