Great video thank you. I’ve owned this model for a few years now and it’s frustrating for two main reasons, one is the exact issue with the log guard being too low. I was researching a taller guard but after seeing your tip on the fire brick I’ll try that first. The other issue is with the magnetic door lock, it requires a good pull to open and the vacuum created pulls ash into the room. As a result this model of far messier with ash than my previous Stockton 5 with an ash pan and mechanical locking door.
@naturalheatinghellfirepizza16 күн бұрын
@@willesloco we find for some customers (especially those that struggle with handles) that this can be a good option. The extended log bar hack does improve back ashing, but yes - there can be more fly way with the vacuum on opening

Hey Sarah. Do you know how this stove compares to the Hunter Herald Allure 5? Thanks so much.
@naturalheatinghellfirepizza10 ай бұрын
Not yet. I do have an Allure here that I still need to run… but it’ll be a while yet as I’ve got other things and jobs lined up to do first…. There are a lot of differences though and I’d still encourage anyone to handle and play with stoves in the flesh themselves For example, handle is on opposite side and a very different position. Very different looking stove. Big glass.. “clean” ie more modern.. no real leg as such. Deeper They’ll be all round very different. Clock is uk made. Allure is not. Nothing wrong with that - it’s just there typically isn’t any competition between things I keep here. Nothing fights against anything else and they’ll all have massive differences (in my opinion) You’re welcome to visit ! This stove was meant to come out today… but it’ll now come out on Saturday. Providing I’ve got a time gap tomorrow, I’m hoping to try and run both the Blithfield and the Sudbury together at the same time given they’re currently connected up and next to each other…. I’ll never get the opportunity again

No. Sorry. I don't have access to those models. I video everything I am intending keeping in our shop. These videos were actually all done to help our shop customers... but ended up getting a lot of traffic coming back to me just via youtube (which wasn't actually my original aim)

Hi Sarah, I have a flavel Rochester 7 multifuel, it's just over 12 months old used very little I've burned coal & logs on it maybe a dozen times last Yr & half a dozen this Yr2024, my problem is the glass has fine crazing on it is this normal or do I have a problem??
@naturalheatinghellfirepizzaАй бұрын
Sorry. You might not like this as I'm going to jump in with two feet / total ADHD and be blunt and direct - but meaning to help. The issue will be what you are doing with it. Multi fuel typically means either or rather than mixing fuel. Wood burns top down, solid fuel from the bottom up. Burning both together creates a super heat. Leaving air controls open too long or mixing fuels causes heating up far too fast and therefore thermal shocking which is what you've done to the glass. The fine fissures are typically harmless and no point in changing it as yet (unless you want to) .... but it's down to how you are running it. Personally, I dont like smokeless fuel. Everything stays much cleaner with wood. Smokeless fuel is fuel of sulphur which acid etches into the glass and also ruins it. It leaves (eventually) a matt type finish on the internal surface of the glass as literally erodes it. Without typing a massive essay for an hour, if you want to keep nice glass and clean viewing.... ditch the smokeless. HTH

Hi from the Highlands, I run 3 wood burners. One in the workshop and one either end of the house. I would love a clock but my burners get a service every winter and are in good condition. I love kiln dried birch and have 25 tonnes of spruce ready for milling, I'm planning making a solar kiln to dry my hardwood for the stoves. That's not a Norfolk accent is it, I worked for a company down that way and you sound a bit Scottish to me. Love the videos and I'll subscribe to help out.👍🏴
@naturalheatinghellfirepizza4 ай бұрын
@@johnkidd797 hello 👋 I’ve been in Norfolk since 2002 - not that you’d tell from my accent ! Birch burns lovely and is a good wood for getting going. Mostly we burn oak, ash and sycamore which are harder and last longer. Our local woodman is fab and it’s all barn stored. Saying that, I typically use kiln dried birch for first burns, videos and trialing models before I bring them into stock. This is because I’m working with a known entity and with more uniform size / hardness / burn speed gives a good bench mark. I have customers burn the same on install day as we know everything is just right and if results later (often down to what customers are doing or burning) … gives me ability to go right back to basic and work out what their issue is. Thanks for saying hello :-)

I have a question please; can this stove operate with a 6 inch flue or would it require a flue adapter; widening to fit a 6 inch flue? Very informative video btw, thank you so much 😊
@naturalheatinghellfirepizza9 ай бұрын
This stove has a 5” outlet. You therefore need an increaser to fit on a 6” system - but totally do able. Most will fit on 5” vitreous and then an adapter (where you don’t see it) to connect to 6” liner. With twin wall systems, you do get 5 to 6” increasing adaptors too. Available in almost all systems though parts are not interchangeable Glad video proved useful

Thank you so much for your response. I want a dedicated wood burner, so am drawn to the Sadbury, but perceive the Bletchfield to be the better clock stove. The elephant in the room may therefore be the Dik Gurtes 5.

Depends on a lot of things … personal taste, budget, where you intend to fit.. distance to combustibles I’m afraid not totally straightforward! Clock are one of our best sellers. That said, for me…my personal favourites are Heta Ambiton 5 or 8 ( but not in a bungalow !) or Hwam 4620c

Distance to combustibles. We sell loads to go into fire place openings. The back of this stove needs to be 200mm forward of combustibles when fitted with a heat shield. The sides get really hot. For stoves going near combustible walls with no fireplace/ chimney, the vast majority we fit are skew across a corner and this isn’t suitable for that sort of Installation…. Needs different specifications
@graemeclark667110 ай бұрын
@@naturalheatinghellfirepizza I believe they only need to be 50mm from non combustible at the back though.
@naturalheatinghellfirepizza10 ай бұрын
@@graemeclark6671 that’s incorrect. It’s 500mm from combustibles at the back or 200mm when fitted with a heat shield to the back of the stove. Please check out the clock manual page 13. The 200mm with heat shield however, check out their brochure (it isn’t in the manual) I’d screen shot for you but it’s not giving option to add photos

@@naturalheatinghellfirepizza you’re referring to combustibles. I’m talking about non-combustibles. I’ve read the data sheet just now and it says 100mm at back to non-combustibles

4” is recommended from non combustibles inside a fire place opening. 2” / 50mm won’t do any harm … but the more the better for air circulation

A nice stove having seen one in the flesh, but the rather daft and totally pointless magnetic lock, which requires the use of a clip to allow the correct lighting procedure, rather takes the shine off it for me.

If you don’t like stoves, I’ll certainly p&ss you off big style - as I love stoves and try my damnest to teach people the best possible burning techniques. Maybe it’s best you don’t torture yourself and find another channel… as you’ll find many many stoves on my channel. Hope you enjoy your next KZbin video hop more. Good luck !

yep they arent positive for the environent, but... they are ten times better than an open fire. Factor in the heat loss up an open fire chimney when the fireplace is not in use, and the differential is much greater. the big enemies of air quality are (1) burning wood that is not priperly dried out (this can be disastrous - 100x worse than dry wood), (2) smokeless fuel or coal, (3) open fires. If (big if!) you use sustainably sourced like-for-like replanted wood eg from your own woodland, well, a high efficiency clean burning stove can sort of be be carbon neutral... definitely better than mains gas.

I burn my logs and there is no smoke other than the first 10 minutes when the stove and chimney warms up. When it’s running you get gas coming out. For god sake, don’t cook steak, eggs, or anything in your oven or in a frying pan because it’s gonna be disastrous!
