Hi Sandra, I am brand new, so new, I don't have any supplies yet. Do you have a video or a suggested supply list of where to even start?

I never had the chance to, but when I was doing ceramics I really wanted to do a sample of every single glaze in existence, so I really love all your sample tiles. I might have to do that myself once I get some supplies in to start this enameling journey 😂 Also I've been kind of looking for videos similarly to this and haven't found many. Thank you very much for this exploration video.

Dear Sandra! I'd like to ask you about the counter enamel and about the firing temperature after the polish. I'm looking for your answer. Thank you so much, Zsanna Gausz
@sandramcewen4 жыл бұрын
Hi Zsanna! The full video on my Vimeo channel includes how to counter enamel. But basically it's just two thin coats of whatever enamel you want on the back (I like grisaille black unleaded from Thompson Enamel) fired at around 1430 F... Should take about 1.5 -2 minutes to fire. (Adjust your temp up or down if it's taking a lot longer or shorter...) Good luck! vimeo.com/ondemand/sandramcewen/

Wow. You are the Queen of enamel Art. Can i make this quality with a torch?
@sandramcewen4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. You won't be able to get the same results using a torch. If a kiln is out of the question, you might consider getting a small tabletop "beehive kiln". They are fairly inexpensive and you will get nicer results. Good luck!

Hmm I wonder if this would work with pottery glazes instead of enamel
@sandramcewen2 жыл бұрын
They would not. Enamels have been formulated to work over metal. Pottery glazes would not be compatible...
@kingdarkem2 жыл бұрын
@@sandramcewen was thinking over pottery with wire inlay instead of metal. I got an abundance of clay in my yard. I got tin and aluminum but they wont hold up very well and I cannot find any good resource for making my own enamels at home.
