DO NOT use the Survivalist card! The Enforcer Training card ( the health on kill card) is much better. The Survivalist card increases your health recovery RATE, not the health recovery DELAY. The commando has a 10 second delay which is double what it is for almost every other class in the game. But the recovery rate is the same as almost all of them too, at 50 HP per second. Using the Survivalist card will boost that rate to 100 HP per second but you'll still have to wait a full 10 seconds (without taking ANY damage) for that to kick in. So if you drop down to 20 health that will be a 4 second recovery time (instead of 8) AFTER the 10 second delay making a total of 14 seconds as opposed to 18 seconds without it. Meanwhile if you use the health on kill card you can take on groups of enemies by yourself with his middle ability combining the siphon effect and 50 health per kill, not to mention the one on one encounters won't mean as much because you'll instantly get some health back one you defeat them.

Zach Walters I’ve always known this with the survivalist card and I could definitely understand the misconceptions associated with this card, but I would still say it’s worth it to use the survivalist with all other enforcers. Although, clone commandos are different since they don’t have overload as a middle ability so like you said, with the 50% health gained from the damage you deal, combined with health on kill (which I already use), it’s probably more useful to rule out the survivalist card and make an exception for the clone commandos by using the increased duration on middle ability. So yeah, I will make sure to sub out the survivalist card with the experts’ weapons handling card just when I’m playing clone commandos. Thanks for the insight.

You should have talked about their DC-17M blaster having to reload manually, instead of overheating like any other blaster in BFII. Because of this, their magazine capacity won't reset if you don't shoot for some time like other blasters, and you can't overload your weapon to shoot infinitely for a short time since there is no yellow line to time right while reloading.

Curious facts: Lore-wise, the role of the Clone Commandos are swapped with the ARC Troopers in Battlefront II. Commandos were used more as infiltration elite units, rather than pure properly enforcers. Also, the ARCs are used more as infiltrators rather than enforcers (most of the time you will find they alongside common troops, more frequently in the frontlines). Even more, the Commandos have one ability that directly not only helps them, but also their teammates (Battle Focus). Meanwhile, the ARC's abilities are purely of individual effect (the scanner only reveals enemies to you, not to your teammates). Yes, is true that ARC has "Recon" in the name, but I couldn't resist to make this comparison.

I find that when reloading the anti armour attachment, if you use the melee without hitting anything, it instantly reloads, without waiting, and same for swapping into the ability. But do a myth busters to correct me if I am wrong.

The middle ability is borderline op vs heroes if you can aim and it needs a nerf. You can 1v1 any hero in the game and kill them with full hp left very easily. Love wrecking overconfident hero players.

Should be brought down to the intended 25% dmg red and 50%. If heroes still have a problem it should broaden the gameplay and force them to block against the commando.

A great guide and a generally great video! For the Star Cards, I prefer Enforcer Training, which gives you 50 Health per kill over Expert Weapons Handling. Simply the extra 6 seconds of Battle Focus isn't worth it to me, compared to the 50 health you get per kill otherwise. The 50 health is also not limited to the Battle Focus ability, which is another plus for me. Keep up the good work with the vids Sammy!

Got into a 1v1 Against Darth Vader in Galactic Assault Naboo and I beat Vader solely because of Battle Focus, towards the end of the fight he engaged his Block at low health so it only seemed fair to Anti-Armor him. 😂 The Clone Commando is easily one of my favorite Reinforcements both because of his Armor and Abilities and the satisfaction from destroying 1v1ing a Tank and winning. Republic Commandos are awesome. Only thing missing from them is Temuara Morrison’s Commando Voice filter, then they are perfect.

Potential weakness to be aware of with the middle ability is that it’s radius is a little small when compared with officer or hero abilities. I think it’s the right size but just thought I’d mention it so people know to stay pretty dang close to their team when buffing.

Commando's are my favorite in this game still. I remember the times me and my friend would literally hold down a hallway with just us 2 as commando's. I wouldn't recommend using survivalist at all though, and would rather pair it with enforcer training since it works in tandem with the grenade launcher

I know I’m kinda late, but the Repulsor Blast does a bit of damage now ! If you have the grenade launcher attached, you can push any soldier class and then send a grenade after them for an instant kill, only Heavys will survive this.

I'd be quite interested in a video on the best tactics for beating these guys as the Seperatists (and tips for what to avoid doing when fighting them). I've found that Clone Commandos are suddenly my #1 streak killers (outdoing enemy heroes by a large margin), both as my go to favorite Commando Droids and as heroes. I've found my Commando Droid tactics difficult to use against them, as vibro blade attacks seem to be about as effective as picking up a stick off the ground and whacking them with it (melee does next to no useful damage) and they dish out more damage than I can, even with my high accuracy rate as a BX Commando. Agility and constant dodging is the only hope against them. They aren't impossible to kill by any means, just difficult, and it's always a bit nerve wracking fighting one 1 v 1 when I've got a streak as anything other than a hero with a decent amount of health left. Even as a hero I find that fighting more than one Clone Commando at once, say 1 v 2, tends to be a death sentence unless you get the drop on them and kill one before the other can react. Lightsabers, as with vibro blades though to a lesser degree, seem to do less damage (perhaps this impression is due to their higher health?) meaning you tend to take a lot of fire while busying yourself with hitting the Clone Commando... It can ultimately stop a lot of rampages behind enemy lines. As a final note, I had an encounter with one as an officer where the Commando was distracted during on other droids and had very low health remaining... I apparently made the dreadful mistake of trying to finish him off with a melee... he took a solid 10 seconds to react while I was pistol whipping him again and again and again with melee and he seemingly lost next to no HP as still, with a tiny fraction of his health bar left, he didn't die and turned and melted my poor little B1 Officer. Felt like a mosquito getting flicking off of some guys arm.😂 In the same match however I used an Officer to kill a low health Anakin with melee quite easily so, that was really quite the experience. Once again, not sure what it is with these guys and melee resistance... but it's really tricky to deal with for me, lol.

I chose the exact same cards as shone in this video, but from my experience in the four person co-op gamemode the starcard that gives you health every time you get a kill would possibly be better than the increased rate of recovery or the increased base health, simply because there are just so, so many enemy's s arming you on those levels.

Commandos are too OP, it's a no win situation when 2 of them are together,it's worse when 5 of them are together and use overheal,if you play as droids from now on. It will be very tough, they need to nerf the duration of the heal not how much it heals, because I've seen players skip picking the hero and go straight to the commando, commandos are the best reinforcement so far,I was in a CS match and we were droids and leading points by 48 by the the time the commandos hit the field,the game changed from casual to very tough

Hey Sammy, love the video. But I've got a little thing that bugs me. Why is Phasma's Staff so /BAD/ compared to the TX-Commando Droid? 1. Longer cooldowns. 2. You can literally get melee'd out of it by a /BLASTER/ Hero/Unit 3. You cannot get the full combo of if it's not /FULLY/ charged 4. It's too slow to even get the full combo off, since by the time you're thinking about the third strike, they'll have already melee'd/rolled out of the way, or even blocked it. 5. If C. Phasma is a relentless survivor, why would her ' Blaster inspection ' star card affect friendlies? I propose that she gets Yoda's new Star Card instead, it'll make more sense. Or just swap it.

The only issue I have with this update is that the CIS don’t have an anti armour ability on any of their reinforcements. Plus the arc of the grenade launcher can compensate for the clone commandos lack of ranged damage. They either need to buff the damage of the Droidika against vehicles or make their overload do that. The other option is making the B2 battle droids rocket anti armour. Plus if I’m being honest a B2 should not cost 500 more than a droidika and a Clone Commando. Other than that it’s a really solid update and reinforcement, keep up the good work Sammiboi 😎

I’ve taken down many Commandos with just a melee. Understand they have a limited view. Most players won’t see you flank them. Plus go stealth mode with a bubble and go ham on them.

I use the same cards, but swap out survivalist for Enforcer Training. Health is more useful when you gain small amounts rapidly, especially when taking on big groups, which is how I play commandos

I think Battle Focus should work like the other enforcer's overload ability, where you can't roll or sprint, which would balance out the complete tankiness of the ability.

The Battle Focus is Glitched but once it is fixed I’m sure that the 25% Damage reduction will be easier to Fight Against than a 50% Damage reduction.

If you activate battle focus and just shoot a lightsaber hero you can win even if they are swing spamming and you ar not rolling. You regain the hp you loose quickly.

Already predict a nerf coming.. On the positive side, this is a badass class! I don't mind the 3 second config for the anti armor rockets. I use the explosive sentry ALOT when playing heavy class & you have to predict, in advance, when you need it. I always try & take cover if I need to use it & predict when I may need it so as to have it ready when I need it. If you try using it in the middle of a fire fight, you're free game & probably going to die because it takes ab 3 seconds for it to become usable after engaged. All ab strategy!

On my Enforcers I'm using the health on kill card instead of the regen speed card. Just seems to allow me to spend more time in combat compared to the regen increase, and lets me play a bit more aggressively. I will say that the melee attack for the commando is also really great, and combined with the middle ability, it's already saved me against Darth Maul twice.

Dude just through yourself at the Darth Maul with the center ability and you'll win. When I figured out the potential I just hunted down villains and my friend and I ended up with a combined 48 hero kills in one match. Note that match had 4 boarding sequences I'd still call it impressive.

Fun Fact, enforcers are disgustingly OP in CO-OP the Super Battle Droid and Clone Commando specifically, because of their HP buffs, their high damage output and support abilities you can clear the command post of opposing AI with relative ease just by being super agressive. kill an enemy = HP, (this is more OP as the clone commando since you get HP back for dealing damage AND for the kill as well) but you can kill more rapidly as the SBD using the middle ability and going to town, since the SBD is so accurate and deadly even at range, it's headhsots for days and easy kills to consantly replenish your health even when an entire platoon of AI are trying to gun you down, combined with the SBD fortify ability, you can be a killing machine and a damage sponge as one of those 2 enforcers and seriously help your team win. i cant tell you how many times i have been top of the leaderboard just by spamming the CC or SBD with the right cards equipped. just dont use the ones that mark enemies or the recovery rate one. use enforcer training, the one that keeps the middile ability active longer, and the one that increases max HP, you will literally be a mini-hero in co op, unless there is a better enforcer player or OP hero on your team with good skill you should be top of the leaderboard every time, or at least close.

I think the commandos are great, however I think they need a very small reload time buff in between their grenade launcher shots!
