Kelly, can you address the use of closed hand combatives and what your view is currently. I have been a follow of yours since Combatives 1-2-3 with Paladin and the information and knowledge you have given me and my family is literally priceless. I utilize the skills and philosophy you teach everyday and so does my family. Would be really interested to know specifically combatives uses for boxing skills. Thank you! You ROCK!!

Kelly, a couple more thoughts; in one of your more recent videos you had mentioned that your guys using combatives were getting schooled by the boxers or kickboxers so I thought it would be nice to see your ideas on hybridizing combative elements with boxing elements. Or dealing with non preemptive striking situations which could arise and the fight is literally ON. I do have the Paladin Closed Hand Combatives DVD's (awesome information by the way and collectors classic!) but knowing that you continually evolve and evaluate would be very appreciated to see where you are now. Thank you so much look forward to your next video!

Great series of videos on the WWII combatives and the differences between the face smash, chin jab and straight palm strikes. Question: Do you teach the straight palm strike to your students, or just the chin jab and face smash?
@kembativzbrand90992 жыл бұрын
I teach them all those strikes and let them decide which work best for them, Marc. 🙏🏻

In a similar vein to Marc's question, have you done (or do you plan to do) a similar video on the straight palm strike, or do you consider it too self-explanatory to merit it's own video? Also, as between the palm strike and the face smash, do you have any thoughts regarding circumstances when one might be a better choice than the other, if any exist? Thanks.

Hi Kelly, great to see you give your new perspectives on these techniques after all these years! Do you still recommend S.W.A.M.P. as the delivery system or have you changed that up a bit?

John Watson from the GHCA days came up with SWAMP which is basically Dempsey Drop (time footfall with impact). As an organization Bob Kasper thought it was important to support GHCA members and promote their concepts. That’s why when I was associated with them we all used it to describe power generation.

Hi Kelly, I've been meaning to ask anyways and because you brought up being adrenalized, can we hear your take on adrenaline stress. How adrenaline stress effects in and out of the ring? How to train it and stay focused even when the game plan goes wrong? Is there a training guide would you recommend?

What do You think Sir what will be much more usefull on the Street situation, Boxing or maybe grappling like traditional jiujitsu when you use multi joint locks?
@walterlewis79882 жыл бұрын
Start your training with striking(muay tai or boxing) then add grappling(juijitsu or wrestling). Fights start with strikes most often and if you’re lucky you don’t end up on the ground. You need to be proficient in both arenas. Unfortunately, in this day and age you need to be proficient with weapons as well. There is no short cut , you have to commit to self defense for the long haul.It’s worth it…Peace.
@kembativzbrand90992 жыл бұрын
You need competency in both stand up and grappling. Statistics about what “happens” in street fights are purely anecdotal. You won’t go wrong with boxing/wrestling or Muay Thai/BJJ combinations.

Tanglefoot... Kelly...I don't want to do things with the attacker...I want to do things to the attacker! I'm getting too old for all this. Trying to get back in half ass shape. Even so, combatives is only for last ditch emergency use due to age. I carry 2 Hellcats for 'pressure point' tools.
