I watched Donny Osmond perform this musical a hundred times while working as an usher at the Chicago theater. What a voice! What a talent.
@Edie4511 ай бұрын
Donny and the cast did a wonderful thing for the students from a local high school who were going to perform this production. While in Chicago they met with the students and many met individually with the person playing their character to go over some of the difficulties and challenges of that role. Considering this was a small high school from a small Canadian town, their generosity was overwhelmingly welcomed and appreciated. Never forgotten, always recalled with gratitude.

As a Jewish person, hearing this song is so special. It sounds like a prayer we say in synagogue.
@paulitamartinez42554 жыл бұрын
Can you say which one? I would love to hear it!
@mayag2244 жыл бұрын
@@paulitamartinez4255 I didn't really have a specific one in mind when I wrote this. I was saying in general. Like this song, a lot of prayers are in minor keys and say words like "children of Israel." They also involve asking God for peace and stuff. It's also hard to find specific ones since the tunes used vary. The way my synagogue sings a prayer could be totally different than the way another one does, though there are more popular versions. That being said, I found two videos that give me similar vibes to this song. Here they are: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5iWmJygqtaKj9E and kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIKWfIOdbsp6Z5Y . Again, the orchestrations and tones are a bit more upbeat than this song, but it all depends on how you sing it. Here is an "evolution of Jewish music video" if you want to get a sense of what I'm talking about: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZPIcqWGhtammZo . Not all of the songs fit what I'm talking about but some do.

Saw Donny Osmond as Joseph in the touring production at the Chicago Theater -- he was INCREDIBLE.. Later heard Andrew Lloyd Webber say Donny Osmond was his favorite "Joseph" -- we understood: no one has his voice & he's an outstanding theatrical performer!!!

Irish Mimi I've always thought he may well be the best suited person for the role - that no matter how close his family is, he probably had a better understanding of the potential difficulties of great popularity in a large family with a lot of older brothers.

that "shall" at 2:50 is extremely difficult to hit for a male, by the way - donny has an amazing range and support to his voice, it's so good
@fgffrfyydsgsguyijxse8255 жыл бұрын
Jade Percival not really.. most tenors can easily hit a C5 and that is just a B4
@BlueLucario985 жыл бұрын
Fgffrfyyds Gsguyijxse it’s much harder to hit in succession with the lower notes going into the phrase, jumping an octave and then going back down immediately is quite a feat that takes a while for even trained tenors to get right
@fgffrfyydsgsguyijxse8255 жыл бұрын
BlueLucario98 it’s not uncommon at all to jump like that-it’s expressed in a multitude of modern popular pieces and not hard to do at all
@BlueLucario985 жыл бұрын
Fgffrfyyds Gsguyijxse jumps are very common, it’s just that with the higher the range, the more difficult it is for such a thing. “Close Every Door” is a decent example, but not quite that large of a gap, more like “Until I Hear You Sing” from Love Never Dies or “Pity the Child” from Chess is where it gets very difficult for even normal tenors.

BlueLucario98 yes-I agree with that
