Dear Fellow Americans and the United States of America, I am a Kurd who had to flee the imminent threat of death and sought refuge in your great country through the Mexican border. The American police officers treated me with dignity, as I never experienced in my homeland. The brutality that we Kurds endured under the Republic of Turkey forced us to escape in search of a better life. I implore you to recognize our plight, and I promise I will live every moment of my life with immense gratitude and respect for the United States of America. To me, this country symbolizes a beacon of hope and divine intervention on Earth. Words are not enough to express my heartfelt appreciation. May God bless the United States of America and its kind-hearted citizens. With sincerity and love, A grateful Kurdish refugee🇺🇲🗽

I so love how some Northeastern reporter has the gall to come down to Texas and say that were "abandoning" United States Territory. Were NOT "abandoning" anything!!!! First of all, the Rio Grande River marks the territorial separation of the United States and the Republic of Mexico. If this reporter (and I'm using that title very loosely) would've done his research, he would've known that. Secondly, that current wall is replacing a section of the older wall that had previously been there. Perhaps this "reporter" can go to the United States-Canadian Border and do a report there and showing how secure that area is???? While he's at it, perhaps he could do an expose' on how secure the Port of New York is????

Actually if someone steps onto American soil even if on the Mexican side of a fence they have a legal right to file for amnesty. They shouldn't always get in but they have the right
@brianjordan21925 жыл бұрын
No, they don't "have the right". Coming into the US illegally automatically disqualifies them from refugee status. That's why the dems, under Obama, made a rule that families could only be held 20 days. They get a court date for later. They don't come to their court dates because they already have been released into the country.
@user-jy3zl2vp4b5 жыл бұрын
@@brianjordan2192 I think you are mis-informed. Walking onto US soil does not disqualify them from refugee status, nor is that action considered "illegal." Think of it this way.... I live down the street from you (but you don't know me)....I run onto your property (cross your border) and I beg you to help me from an attacker......I am on your land...but it is not illegal because I am asking you for help. You may not like that I am there....but in dire situations it is not illegal for me to seek refuge on your property. Self-preservation. Just like you may need to enter my property line to avoid a vicious animal...you ARE on my property....but no one in their right mind would refuse to help someone in a life-threatening situation. The law also allows this. The police would not arrest you if you only needed a safe place to be (on my property). Where is your sense of humanity, Christianity, or just kindness to those in need? And, let's say I crossed your property line daily because, daily, someone (a drug dealer perhaps) is trying to attack and kill me so they can continue their drug dealing in the neighborhood....then the whole neighborhood should find out who the violent people are that are causing fear to those seeking protection, and stop the aggressors (the drug dealers) ...not the victims. So to recap....I can ask you (my neighbor) for help before I need it (call ahead and ask if I can hide at your place) or, in extreme situations, I can show up at your door and ask for help. Neither option would get me arrested for trespassing - when I am in an emergency situation. EVEN IF you didn't want me there. A refugee can do the same...submit papers before arriving...or do so after. But would you really tell a person at your door, begging for help, to "leave or I will call the police to take you away." I sure hope not; surely you would help in any way you can until the threat can be resolved. As I would do for you!
@brianjordan21925 жыл бұрын
Well all that comment proves is you don't know the law. Illegal entry into the United States disqualifies people for asylum status. That's the law, no matter how you "feel". Violation of the law as one's first act into the US disqualifies them from virtually anything. As it should. That is exactly why around 90% of illegals entering the US fail to show up to their asylum hearings. And if you trespass on my property, violating my trust in order to "ask for help" expect to be held at gun point until the authorities arrive. Becathere is a legal right way to do things and there is an underhanded illegal way to do things. The fact that most illegals pay thousands of dollars to "coyotes" to enter the country, and around 80% of illegals live off of welfare, shows exactly what kind of people enter the country illegally. It always amazes me when people like you don't understand what "illegal" means. If they thought they had a legitimate reason to come into the US, they would do it legally.

That was in Hidalgo. Not McAllen. I'm in McAllen now. I go to Reynosa, México from Hidalgo and back frequently. Through that vary area. There is a similar wall in Nogales, Arizona and El Paso, Texas. Anyway. The geography and topography of the area itself you can see, poses some real challenges for building a wall. Not only because of the Rio Grande River. But also because the border is asymmetrical. That means that yes, America would have to give up territory to build the wall. That would bring about challenges, that would take some time to actually sort out. If anything could be sorted out. They probably won't do that.
